It is hard to believe that fall is here. You may look in the mirror and think to yourself that you have had the same look for as long as you can remember and would like to get a fresh new look. There is no better time than autumn and the beginning of the holiday season.

When you finally decide to take that plunge and get a new look, be sure to do your research on hairstylists. Not all hairstylists are the same. You need someone who specializes in makeovers. Someone who specializes in makeovers is able to look at your facial structure, bone structure and understands your hair texture and hair structure to give you the right haircut. Not all stylists can do this. About 20 years ago I worked with a hairstylist who would cut everyone’s hair in the same style as her own. Hair styling is an art form and this art form should be used to enhance the client. Each haircut should be custom designed for the client. A lot of times people will bring photos to the stylist wanting to look like some celebrity. Sometimes that hairstyle will work on the client and sometimes it is just not suited for them. There was a client that wanted a hairstyle that required thick hair and her hair was very fine. It wouldn’t have worked on her hair. She was pretty adamant about getting this hairstyle. But when I gave a haircut that worked with her hair she loved it. In pursuing a new look, remember to be open-minded and if the stylist is a makeover specialist, hear what the stylist has to say. If you agree with what the stylist has to say, then let the stylist do their magic so you can see what looks good on you. There is no better time to get a new look than now.
