Two young children, a husband and a hospital scare only five weeks after her second child was born – sound hectic to you? Twenty-four-year-old Leslie Greer had gone through a whirlwind of life changes and now as things were calming down it was truly time to focus on herself. Leslie wrote to us explaining that “A new look would help restore the confidence that I lost while in the hospital, and give me the ‘pick me up’ that all new moms desperately need.” After reading her story we knew we had the right winner for our July makeover. So it was off to see Debbie Kaczenski at Sid’s Salon for a complete makeover.
For 30 years Sid’s Salon has been providing full beauty services including everything from hair to waxing to massages. Being one of the oldest salons in the Santa Clarita Valley, it is a salon you can go to and know you’ll be in good hands. On a Tuesday afternoon, Sid’s Salon took on a new client, Leslie. Hair stylist Debbie Kaczenski offered her services to Leslie for the day and owner Sid Molina provided the make-up. We first started with the consultation.
Debbie explained that she would put a solid color made up of red, violet and brown tones underneath and then weave lowlights and highlights on the top of lighter colors. She would straighten Leslie’s curly hair and leave long layers to keep the cut easy for the new mom. Leslie was a great candidate for the makeover because she wasn’t afraid to add fun colors. “I want to do my hair like I would before I had kids,” Leslie exclaimed. She was ready for a different and a new style. I left Leslie in Debbie’s hands and the makeover finally began.
When I got back to the salon, Leslie was checking out her finished makeover in the mirror. When she turned around I was so happy to see the new glow on her face. The curly hair was completely straightened and smoothed out and the different colors in Leslie’s hair were amazing. Debbie had brightened up her face with bold colors and you could tell Leslie was happy. “It’s awesome and wonderful. I love it!” Leslie said with a big smile. She told me her favorite part was how straight her hair was. Her makeup complimented her face perfectly. Sid had used his own line of makeup products to pull Leslie’s whole new look together. With his Molina cosmetic line he used foundation and blush to start. Sid then added subtle eye shadow and dark eyeliner to make her eyes pop and finished the look off with red lips. Sid created the Molina line to better serve his customers. It is complete with concealers, eye shadows and more even including grooming products for men. After everything was put together, Leslie’s makeover was complete and her smile showed it was a success.
With all of the surprises life throws us, it’s always good to take time out of the busy schedule and relax. Sid’s Salon provided the perfect makeover that truly helped Leslie get back to herself again. We thank them for their help and Leslie can now go back home with a new look and a new beginning.
