Pizza Del Sardo: Fresh, Traditional, Quality and Taste
Traditional Italian ingredients, recipes and cooking methods are the only ones we’ll ever use at Pizza del Sardo. Nothing has been Americanized or changed for the American market. Early each morning we light the fire in our huge gas and wood-burning oven, and begin preparing for our customers.

Celebrate Diversity with Persia Restaurant
One of the most wonderful things about being a part of American culture is our diversity. Our country is comprised of various races and religions; people who were born here and those who chose to leave the countries of their birth to start a new life in this land of bountiful opportunities.
Sushi Beginner Tips
If you haven’t heard about sushi, this article is for you. Sushi is a Japanese delicacy made of cooked rice and fish wrapped firmly in seaweed. Although the fish is usually raw, it can be cooked or marinated.
Serving Deep Dish Delicious! Numero Uno!
Although well known for our Chicago Style deep dish pizza, with the succulent diced tomatoes, we also specialize in numerous pastas such as our home made lasagna. With a secret recipe brought from Italy in 1973 by one of the founders of Numero Uno, it has become a tradition of our own, filled with Mozzarella and Romano Cheese, pair with our unique and rich meat sauce layered with lots of noodles, and our own garlic bread, just delicious!
Counting Blessings and Winning Awards
Last month I wrote about the Santa Clarita Valley Transit Authority’s invitation to participate in their in-house Health Fair for the specific purpose of enlightening the workers to the specific differences between ‘ice cream,’ with its undeniably unhealthy 12 to 16-plus percent in fat, and yogurt; in particular, our Dannon frozen yogurt.
A Big Thank You
Throughout the last few months, I personally have become melancholy about my time spent here working at Telly’s Drive-In Castaic, probably more than most of you may have wanted to hear! When you work in Castaic, you will find it’s a collision of old and new. The “Old Castaic” does not want change nor does it want to accept change without kicking and screaming and the “new” just barrels in with no idea of the rich history the “Old” does behold!Â
Still Waiting!
I was all set to tell everyone about my fabulous auction date. Then the believable happened. I forgot that it’s hard enough setting up a date with one woman. This has become three times as hard. Have you ever tried to coordinate a date with three women? Well this is a first for me, and I am sure for them too. Everyone working different hours, but I am determined to get this done soon.
The Places We Go
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” Dr. Seuss was an author with many quotes, but this one in particular holds true to its form. It is in our human nature to want to find all of the answers.
The New Fig and Pig
Since the early days of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, pizza has existed to feed the mouths of ancient civilizations. The earliest record of the word “pizza” appears in a Latin text from the southern Italian town of Gaeta in 997 AD, which stated that a tenant was to give the bishop of Gaeta “duodecim pizze” (twelve pizzas) every Christmas day, and another twelve every Easter Sunday — presumably as rent or a tithe to the Church.
Share Your Food Photo with Us!
Picture yourself getting ready to go eat at your favorite local restaurant. Sometimes you even know exactly what you’re going to order before you arrive. Just as the food is brought out to you, you can’t wait to take a bite…sweet, sour, soft and crunch—the familiar flavors and textures are all so palpable. But before you grab the fork or spoon, out comes the camera. “Click”… Instagram…Facebook…Twitter. Whatever the social media may be, you’ve either seen it or posted about it.
Healing Within
Seems like just yesterday we opened the doors to our new Castaic location and as of September, 2013 we will be celebrating our five year anniversary! Wow! How time flies!
I remember interviewing for our staff and all of the young eager faces that presented themselves to be drilled and questioned for each and every position.
When the Telly’s family first decided to open up in Castaic for business, they offered me the wonderful task of running the business, that came with a rich history and in such a beautiful building; I was honored.
City of Santa Clarita Tops List of Leading Billion Dollar Retail Markets in California
The recently released 2013 California Retail Survey ranked the city of Santa Clarita among the “Top 50 California Billion Dollar Retail Markets,” based on annual retail sales growth in the last five years.
Of the state’s 58 counties and 480 cities, Santa Clarita ranked 38 among the top 50 local markets with annual retail sales in excess of $1 billion. These 50 retail markets represent $141 billion and approximately 41 percent of California’s annual retail sales.
Planet Yogurt Invited to the Health Fair!
A while back, the Santa Clarita Valley Transit Authority called and asked us if we’d like to participate in their week-long, in-house Health Fair. Having never done something like this, I asked what they had in mind. Being a “health” exhibition, the SCVTA recommended we point out the differences between yogurt and that age-old default frozen dessert… ice cream.
