Zonta and Soroptimist Clubs Join Together
It was a great joint Zonta and Soroptimist meeting this year as local members of the two organizations joined for their yearly meeting. Hosted by Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley, the highlighted speakers for the evening were Julie Mairs, President of Los Angeles Soroptimist Club and Dianne Curtis, local Zontian and Zonta International Vice-President.

New Hands-Free Driving Law
The hands-free law goes into effect on July 1st of this year, which means while you’re driving, you must be “hands-free” using your cell phone. Hands-free means using a wired earpiece, the speakerphone on your cell phone or your car, if equipped, or the most popular, a Bluetooth earpiece. A Bluetooth earpiece is a short-range (usually not more than 30 feet) wireless connection to your cell phone.
Food Pantry Teams with Local Schools for Feinstein Million Dollar Hunger Challenge
To capitalize on a millionaire’s dream of eliminating hunger through grassroots involvement, the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry invited local schools to team up for the “4th Annual Students Against Hunger in the SCV — Spring Food Drive 2008.” The winning school will receive an award certificate from the SCV Food Pantry.

Domestic Violence Center uses Art to Teach Youth
Now in its 25th year of service to the Santa Clarita Valley, the area’s premier Domestic Violence Center agency has a new tool in the recovery toolbox for kids, art! Three new “teaching tools” are actually a set of new custom murals that now adorn the walls of the center’s back office area.
