The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) August 18, 2008 meeting at 7 p.m. will feature Lorelle A. Miller.  Miller will discuss what she looks for as a criteria in evaluating the paintings of her students.  Members are invited to share one of their paintings during a constructive lively group discussion.  Reviewing the basics, artists can enrich their art experience.

Each day we deal with the visual world and much of it is made up of visual art. Major utility relocation work is continuing in the area of The Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway.  The contractor, Security Paving, is currently relocating a reclaimed line on The Old Road north of the Magic Mountain Parkway intersection.  This relocation work will continue through early August.  Meanwhile, Castaic Lake Water Agency is working to extend two water lines on the northwest corner of Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road.  Time Warner Cable and Valencia Water are installing their respective lines on Magic Mountain Parkway, between Tourney Road and the northbound off-ramp.

There are still a lot of homes in the Santa Clarita valley which have water softeners which create a waste called chloride.  Chloride is discharged into our sewer system from these softeners.  This waste cannot be treated by our wastewater plants and thus is released into the Santa Clara river, causing harm to the ground water, crops, and the river.
