The Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society will host its 14th Annual Rose Show themed Wild West Roses on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at the William S. Hart Park in Hart Hall.  The public is invited to attend free of charge.

The City of Santa Clarita announced today that location filming was at an all-time high in fiscal year 2006-2007.  The fiscal year runs from July through June, resulting in more than $21 million in direct economic benefit to Santa Clarita’s businesses.  Specifically, the Film Office recorded an unprecedented 852 film days, which is a 26 percent increase over the previous year, and issued 311 film permits within the City of Santa Clarita, a 9 percent increase over the previous year.  

The arrival of autumn signals the beginning of flower bulb planting season.  Tulips, daffodils, narcissus, freesias, hyacinths and many other spring-blooming bulbs should be planted now.  A little time spent in the garden this month will ensure a wealth of color in the spring.

My name is Anny and I live in Stevenson Ranch.  My family and I have a small three-bedroom home.  I have spent the last five years remodeling and decorating the inside.  Now I’m getting ready to fix up my outside patio area.  I have a pretty good size area to work with.  I need a new patio set, lounge chairs, a sitting area and most of all accessories.   I really want the space to be warm and inviting.  We never have used the patio in the past except for a quick barbeque.  I don’t know what style to go with.  I see a lot of tropical motifs, is that what’s in now?   I need help pulling this space together.  I would appreciate any suggestions or guidance you can give me.  Did I mention that I have a pool, if that makes a difference?

For centuries now, images of the high seas and the wealth of treasures that they contain have graced the dens and living rooms of countless homes.  There is just something that is very calming and relaxing about looking at a beautiful seascape.  The popularity of nautical decor has been growing through the years, with many stores now specializing in providing unique nautical-themed merchandise to their customers.

Fridays have this uncanny ability to make me feel sleepy and lethargic.  But the reason why I am feeling very sleepy (it’s a Friday) and not to mention lethargic is because I did not sleep properly last night.  This is slowly becoming a routine, not getting to sleep properly at night.  My friend is a doctor, so I had a talk with him about this, and he says that I am not the only one facing this insomnia problem and this is turning out to be rampant.  Swimming pools are one means that I can try out for inducing relaxing sleep at night, he said.  Now I was stumped, swimming pool and sleep what connection is there?  Apparently there was a medical study conducted by doctors and it was found that sitting in hot tubs and swimming pools at the end of tiring day can induce sound sleep.
