On the Town

On Saturday, February 25,  Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley teed up for education at Scratch Golf…Accelerated in Santa Clarita.  Golf rookies and pros enjoyed a fun filled day inside the 11,500 square foot indoor golf-training center, all to raise funds to support young women who wish to live their dreams by furthering their education. 

On Saturday, March 3, members of Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley (SISCV) gathered at Help the Children to deliver grocery bags filled with much needed canned food, non-perishable food items, toiletries, diapers and clothes donated by the members, their friends, co-workers and neighbors as part of Soroptimist International’s “Saturday of Service”. 

Guests gathered on Saturday, February 25, at the Senior Center Foundation’s Celebrity Waiter Dinner and Auction, one of our Valleys most well-attended and loved events.

Ladies gathered on Tuesday, March 13 to present eight extraordinary women awards.  Rachael White, Monica Bowcott, Karen Sanchez and Kimberly Ochoa received the Jacquie Petersen Award.  The Violet Richardson Award was presented to Audrey Abergel; the Women’s Opportunity Award was presented to Lisa Prather along with the Ruby Award to business partners Lil Lepore and Shari Frazier.

It was a fun night at the Tilted Kilt Valencia VIP Party on Saturday, February 25.

The Trinity Classical Academy Knights finished a season where they fielded six basketball teams - a 4th grade team, a 5th grade team, a 6th grade team and a Junior High A and Junior High B team - in addition to their high school Varsity basketball team.

Jeri Bronstrup, owner of Way Station Coffee Shop, passed away in December to heart complications.  Way Station Coffee Shop has been a landmark of Old Town Newhall since 1971.

It was an evening of fashion and fun at the Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley’s Fashion, Fun & Fantasy on Sunday, March 18 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency, Valencia.  Guests enjoyed perusing through the boutique, with a Sunday Night Supper Show to follow.  An eclectic array of fashion and fantasy hair sculptures took the runway, as models of all ages strutted their unique look, all for a good cause.

This event honored the children’s artwork.  Art affects children cognitively, developmentally, and socially and it emerges from a child’s thoughts and observations.

On Wednesday, January 25, owner Sharon Dallas of Naughty But Nice Lingerie held a fun-filled Ladies Night in the boutique filled with bras, lingerie, novelties and more!

On February 10, business, community leaders and individuals who participated in the SCV Education Foundation’s Principal for a Day found out first hand what it was like to run a public school after being paired with school administrators. 

Students had the chance to bring someone special to school on Friday, January 27 for their Annual VIP Day at school.  The children were able to share what they do at school daily as well as all the fun extras students experience while attending Legacy.

On February 11, Sulphur Springs Elementary School PTA hosted a “Like Mother, Like Son” Bowling Night at the Santa Clarita Lanes. 

Valentine’s Day came a bit early for the guests who attended the Canyon Theatre Guild’s presentation of a night of romance at the Valencia Country Club on Friday, February 10.

Nearly 250 people gathered at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Awards Luncheon, held on Saturday, February 11.  The awards luncheon took place at the beautiful Skirball Cultural Center’s Ahmanson Ballroom in Los Angeles.
