Wolf Creek: Where It All Started
On April 1, 1997, Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co., opened its doors for business in Valencia. It was a dream come true for founders Rob and Laina McFerren, who had met and married while working at the Cheesecake Factory, where Rob was a manager and Laina trained their servers. One Christmas, Laina gave Rob a home brewing kit. After the first batch was brewed, a dream was born! Wolf Creek Brewing Company began its life in the McFerren’s garage as bottles of different home brews started filling all of the available space.
After to moving to Valencia and falling in love with the community, the McFerrens were convinced that it was the place to realize their dream. Armed with years in the restaurant business and the ability to make great beer, Rob and Laina persuaded friends and family to take a chance and invest in the future Wolf Creek. It was a true labor of love, with family members helping to build the place as well as invest in it. Although it proved to be a much more challenging endeavor than they had bargained for, within a few months, business was thriving, and Rob and Laina were able to repay the investors within a few years.
Wolf Creek has become an award-winning community meeting place known for its great food, great brews and amazing desserts. Most importantly, Wolf Creek is known for its friendly, knowledgeable staff, who make guests feel welcome and at home.
In 2008, local businessman, Darren Utley approached the McFerrens about forming a new partnership, with the goal of growing the Wolf Creek concept. Darren’s background in multi-unit restaurants made him an expert in duplicating systems as well as ensuring consistency and efficiency. After discovering they shared common values and business philosophies, the three of them formed WCRB.
As Wolf Creek grows, the original mission remains the same: To provide great brews, great food and great service in a comfortable atmosphere.
