Micro Needling is Now Available at Town Center Surgery
Natalia Guzman, RN is using one of the hottest Hollywood treatments around, Micro Needling is also known as Natural Collagen Induction Therapy or Transdermal Delivery.
Micro Needling has been around for a long time but has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years in Beverly Hills. Founded on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself when physical damage occurs, Micro Needling simply encourages this healing process. In essence, the damaged collagen and elastin is replaced by fresh, new collagen and elastin. It is a popular treatment due to the significant results it achieves, and also because it is a safe, chemical free method that triggers new collagen production. Because Micro Needling can be performed on all skin colors and types, it is sometimes the preferred treatment over laser as there is no risk of burning the patient.
Many people ask me what Micro Needling is and what it does.
During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to naturally produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in improvement of the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro needling also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels, creams and serums to help improve the appearance of the epidermal layer of the skin. It does not hurt at all…although I do apply numbing crème to the patient’s face depending on the depth level of the needles. (2mm is the deepest.)
Micro Needling can be done as a stand-alone procedure, with specialized serums such as Vitamin C or Hyaluronic Acid, or with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma.)
Town Center Surgery practice, Micro Needling is being used for acne scars, fine lines, skin tightening, and shrinking pore size. What patients like about it is that there is little to no downtime…some redness may occur immediately after treatment, but it usually subsides by the next day. Micro Needling can be used all over the body, but the face, neck, and chest are the most treated areas.
