In Memorium – Dr. Robert Harold Teagle, Sr.
Dr. Robert Harold Teagle, Sr., 90, of Santa Clarita passed away peacefully at home on July 1. Born on Spetember 11, 1925 in Torrance, he was the only child to parents Harold Clark Teagle and Mabel Elizabeth Teagle. He attended Redondo Union High School, where he played on the football team and was active in student government. Upon graduation from Redondo in 1943, he joined the Navy to fight in WWII. He attended Pittsburgh St (Kansas) and Cornell University in the Naval officer’s training program. After the war, he received his bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Los Angeles College of Optometry in 1949. He met the love of his life, Margaret Lambert, from Los Angeles in 1951, and they married in 1953. Together they had four children and five grandchildren. Bob and Margaret just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 20.
In 1955, he opened his first optometric practice in Panorama City and served the community for more than 40 years. In 1996, he joined his sons in their optometric practices in Valencia and Glendale. He practiced optometry for more than 66 years.
Bob’s life was centered around his family. He became very involved with Arabian horses and, along with his daughters, practiced in numerous horse shows throughout the West Coast. As horses were a passion, so was football. He attended all of his son’s football games from Pop Warner to college. But most of all, Bob loved Sunday family gatherings. He was happiest when all his family was together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, daughters Carrie Montgomery and Mary Teagle, sons Robert Teagle Jr. (Elizabeth) and Donald Teagle (Patricia), and grandchildren Nicholas Montgomery (Margaret), Michael Montgomery, Thomas Montgomery, Gail Megan Teagle and Glenn Teagle.
