Our “Best Mother’s Day Photo” Contest Winner!
Moms are kind of a big deal—they keep life running, kids happy and partners supported! I know my own mother is my whole world, and there are not too many days that go by before I am calling her just to chat.
We, at The Magazine of Santa Clarita, are pleased to share this entry from a lovely seven-year-old resident who not only knows the value of her own mom, but also knows that every child needs their mom healthy and happy, too!

My mom, Joy Burkhard is a good mom because she helps us and others. She runs a non-profit organization called 2020 Mom that helps moms whose hearts and brains aren’t feeling good. This year she ran the California Task Force on Maternal Mental Health Care and worked to introduce a bill that will help more moms (AB 244). She is heading to Washington D.C. this month and bringing moms from all over the country with her, so our federal law makers can hear more stories.
When a mom is happy a whole family can be happy.
