Five Foods a Teen Should Have at Home
Carrots: Fresh squeezed carrot juice with a handful of parsley is a great energy drink after a long day of school and before the fog sets in while doing homework. Add an apple for flavor and extra cleansing benefits.
Watermelon: Great for a snack, it helps to flush out excess water from the body. Puree and freeze in ice cube trays for hot days. Apply small pieces to blemishes and leave on for 10 min. Rinse with warm then cold water to help cleanse and heal.
Walnuts: Good source of omega 3 fatty acids. Fantastic for mood support, they actually help develop over three dozen neuro-transmitters necessary for brain function. Eat a handful a day.
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds: Great source of zinc which is needed for proper growth of skin, hair and nails. Also helps to detoxify the body, removing excess carbon dioxide.
Spinach: Green leafy vegetables cleanse and heal the tissues. High in iron, it helps to rebuild blood, calcium to help relax nerves and Vitamin C which the body does not store and needs in regular supply.
Drink as much filtered water as possible in a day.
Five foods a teen should avoid:
Sugar: Any food with high sugar levels encourages oil production, provides fuel for bacteria and yeast and throws the blood sugar level off balance, making the pancreas work extra hard to try to regulate levels.
High Fat Foods: Cause hormone levels to fluctuate.
Caffeine: Worsens anxiety, depression and affects hormone levels.
Soda: This is so harsh to your digestive system; it actually takes calcium from your bones to try to bring your body back into balance.
Any food with added hormones such as dairy, beef and poultry.
