Celebrating a Successful Summer JCI Santa Clarita Welcomes New Members
The Santa Clarita Valley chapter of Junior Chamber International “The Jaycees” is celebrating a successful summer of events and is delighted to announce several great events this fall. Following feedback from members and from the community asking about how to get involved, the Jaycees successfully launched a new monthly “Coffee and Connections” event. On the 2nd Saturday of each month, Jaycees meet up and plan their future community projects and leadership trainings. Coffee and Connections is open to everyone 18 to 40 who want to get involved in their community and learn new skills.
Each month the Jaycees now meet on the 1st Thursday of the Month at Margarita’s Bar and Grill for their monthly “Chat and Chill” series were members and prospective members meet up and listen to interesting local leaders. Leaders addressing the chapter have included Councilmember Cameron Smyth, the CEO of the Valley Industry Association, Kathy Norris, SCVTV’s Jessica Boyer and Carolyn Olsen, from Fostering Youth Independence (FYI).
During the Summer, the Jaycees were very active with many events around town. Highlights include the SCV Dodger Day, Christmas in July Mixer with VIA, helping at the SCV Jazz and Blues festival, their new monthly Chat and Chills with key local leaders as speakers and helping with Wine on the Roof and Cocktails on the Roof.
As we move into fall, the Jaycees are looking forward to launching their annual Santa’s Helpers toy drive which helps up to 300 children from under privileged families have a great holiday experience and receive gifts that they otherwise may not have. The Jaycees have already started planning the event and have appointed Taylor Kellstrom, TJ Ward and Neil Fitzgerald as co-chairs.
The Jaycees would also like to welcome all of the new members they have had join so far this year, Jade Aubuchon, Joe Bealer, Bree Cameron, Cindy Curtis, Christian Dadulak, Jason Gibbs, Justin Hunt, Michelle Kampbell, Megan MacKelvie and Jonathan Waymire
Commenting, Taylor Kellstrom, 2019 President said, “We have had a very busy summer and are looking forward to a successful Fall. I am delighted to welcome so many new members to our organization and I am looking forward to Santa’s Helpers this Holiday Season.

Coffee and Connections is the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9:30 a.m. at Starbucks, Granary Square, Valenica. Chat and Chill is the 1st Thursday of every month from 6 p.m. at Margaritas Bar and Grill, Valencia Blvd.
