Do It On Purpose
“Perhaps that’s the moment for which you were created “- Esther 4:14
This month, Jewish people all over the world had just celebrated Purim. We learned by reading the Megillah about the fate of the Jewish people who lived in Persia about 2300 years ago. The king of Persia, Ahaswerus, was persuaded by his chief advisor, Haman, to kill the Jews for being “different than all the other people “. Queen Esther, who was a Jew herself, mustered all her power to foil such a horrible decree by the king.
After 3 days of fasting, and worrying about the fate of her people, Esther prayed for help. Although the word God is never mentioned in the scroll of Esther, it was Devine providence that guided the events. She realized that she was put in the right place at the right time for a reason. Her trust in God made her feel empowered and confident enough to stand up to the king. It was Esther’s heroic bravery that saved the Jewish people from total inhalation. Her courage forever changed history and transformed a dire situation into the most joyful holiday celebration for all Jews around the world.
Have you figured out what your life’s purpose is? What is a mission that you passionately feel you were born for? Perhaps creating a vision board with your activities goals and dreams can help you achieve your goal. Which activities make you feel most authentic and connected to your core? For which activities do you use your God-given skills and talents to your full potential? Which activities give you the most joy?
Which goals align with your values that might benefit the world at large?
Like Esther who was seeking for the answers from within, we, too, seek deep introspection with ourselves to get answers; opening ourselves through prayer and meditation to discover our own spark of divinity. We must focus on finding what gives us the most sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. With our higher wisdom and intuition, we should pay attention to the responses we get. It may eventually attract us to new opportunities and to the right people who would support us along that path.
When we connect to our higher power and channel our energy toward our passion, our lives become more meaningful. It’s up to us to improve on our unique skills to fulfill our mission successfully. We can truly enjoy the rewards only if we work hard ourselves to earn them. Somewhere out there, there is a mission that was orchestrated just for you. Discover it. Do it on purpose!
