A Mother’s Love is as Deep as the Ocean
Being on a transatlantic trip, overseas, this Mother’s Day I contemplate the huge geographic distance from my children. I feel incomplete celebrating “Mother’s Day” away from them. Being away from my usual reality is exactly the place to realize what matters most to me. I’ve always dreamed of someday becoming the best mother ever. It was only when I became a mother, that I knew love on a whole new level.
Watching my children grow and develop was miraculous. Their smiles alone brought me so much joy and the daily rewards were endless. Of course, becoming a parent is challenging and does not come with a manual. Raising them away from my mother, her help and guidance was never-ending on-the-job training. I did what I thought was right, second guessed myself a lot but trusted my intuition and realized that love will always win at the end of the day. It was up to me to do my very best for every one of my four boys with the huge responsibility of shaping another’s human life. Handling each situation that arose to the best of my ability, day in and day out was something I didn’t take lightly. Naturally, life has its ups and downs and I had to learn to ride the waves and remember to constantly adjust the sails. Together we learnt about talking and listening, sharing joy, laughter and tears. We learnt what true unconditional love means. I cherish each moment of being a full-time mom. I can proudly say that my sons are my best creation. Four dreams that came true. Here’s a poem I wrote: YEARNINGS- I miss my sons when I’m far away and gone
the trendier, the spender and the more conservative,
the stubborn, the tender and the more sensitive,
the sly and the shrewd, the shy and the good, the introvert and the extrovert,
the one who cares and likes to share and the one who doesn’t always dare,
the one who seeks an adventure and the one who loves to hike in nature,
the one who’s always working and the one who likes joking,
the one who’s playing tough and the one who likes to make me laugh,
I miss them and love them, all the time, and feel blessed that they’re mine!
Sending my wonderful children from across the miles, love, that’s as deep as the ocean. I thank you all for gifting me your life. Happy Mother’s Day to you!
