One Good Shot
Here we are in the month of May when the weather here in Southern California is the envy of the country. Golf weather. I don’t know why I play. I am not good. There is nothing else I do in life that I am as bad at as I am at playing golf, yet I continue. If after 10 years of fishing, I could not get the bait in the water, I would quit. If I were as bad a skydiver as I am a golfer, you would probably be playing golf at the Randy Lubas memorial.
Upscale Cuisine with Hometown Roots
George and Sheri Rifold, with roots in Valencia, looked to their hometown as the ideal location to continue building on the success of their first restaurant — George’s Bistro in Santa Monica.
Itâs Not That Powdery, Chalky Kind of Smoothie
The number one smoothie concept in Florida, Virginia and Las Vegas is now taking Valencia by storm.
Taste of the Town – May 4
“Food, Glorious Food”, the popular song from the well-known musical “Oliver” is the title of this year’s annual Taste of the Town celebration and an apt description of the event. With more than 45 local restaurants, caterers, breweries and wine merchants gathering together to provide a sumptuous feast to bring awareness to and raise funds for the Child & Family Center, this year’s event promises to please the most discriminating palettes, community minded residents and Sunday afternoon fun seekers.

Salt Creek Grille Patrons Dine for Great Cause
A generous gift estimated at more than $10,000 will make Salt Creek Grille restaurants a major sponsor for three teams attending the 2008 U.S. Transplant Games July 11 to 16 in Pittsburgh, PA. Salt Creek Grille’s Southern California locations are in Valencia, El Segundo and Dana Point.
It’s “Thyme” to Plant Your Culinary Herb Garden
Spring is here, and I find myself drawn to the outdoors. I love working in the yard, grilling on the bar-b-q, and eating on the patio. I especially enjoy the freshness of locally-grown produce, and it doesn’t get much more local than my very own herb garden.
Tommie’s Castaic Café: Itâs all About the Food
“Tommie’s Castaic Cafe” is a gem — a “hole-in-the-wall” diner whose enormous popularity stems from word-of-mouth. And there’s a good reason for that. The food’s great, there’s plenty of it and you can’t beat the prices. Give it a try — we guarantee, you’ll keep coming back. Just ask all the “regulars” who visit Tommie’s Castaic Cafe on a regular, even daily, basis. Tony Anderson says he likes the fast service and good food. “We love coming for weekend breakfast!” He says his favorite meal is the chorizo and eggs.

When it comes to celebrations like weddings, christenings, birthdays, engagements, garden parties or even if you have to launch a ship, there is only one thing that will fit the occasion, champagne. J.R.’s Comedy Corner
People always say to me, Randy why do you do comedy? I tell them, “I do comedy, because the thrill of making people laugh is the second greatest thrill known to man. The first of course is making love. I happen to be able to experience both these thrills simultaneously.”
Healthy Fast Food – An Oxymoron?
When people ask me to describe Tropical Smoothie Café my explanation in a nutshell is healthy fast food and smoothies. Being that we make everything to order I do have to retract the word fast and say faster with a smile. What we are is a quick-casual restaurant. We are not a smoothie shack where all they’re doing is selling smoothies. We’re selling a complete line of food items, including gourmet wraps, specialty sandwiches, fresh soups and salads. How we’re different is that we prepare all items fresh to order. That’s what really makes us unique.
Wine Tasting Do’s And Don’ts
A formal tasting should take place in an environment with ample light. Use your sense of sight, smell and taste, in that order, to assess and evaluate the wine you are trying.
Comfort, Culture and Mexican Cuisine
The Presidente Mexican Grill and the El Chaparral Mexican Restaurant are two of six restaurants in a family owned and run chain continuing a tradition of serving excellent Mexican cuisine since 1967.
