Wendy’s Kicks-Off Fall By Raising More Money for Local Schools
While your kids are preparing to go back to school, Wendy’s is joining you in celebrating by giving even more support to school and youth sports programs throughout Santa Clarita Valley. This year, Wendy’s of Santa Clarita is continuing their support to local schools by raising more money and supporting more sports programs than any other local fast food chain.
A New Board for Assistance League
Assistance League® installed their newly-elected 2014-2015 Board of Officers at their Annual Meeting and Installation Dinner held June 4 at the Valencia Hills Clubhouse. A summer-themed cocktail hour and catered dinner was enjoyed by 85 enthusiastic members.

Pho Sure will be hosting its 3rd Annual Pho Eating Competition on Saturday, July 26 at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome; only the first 15 contestants will compete. Contestants must be at least 18 years old at the time of competition and cannot begin to eat until the starting signal is given.

The History of Gnocchi
Gnocchi (NYOH-kee, NOH-kee), as we know them, are plump little lumps of pasta made mostly of potato.
In early writings, gnocco (singular for gnocchi) is sometimes replaced by maccherone, a generic term for pasta. The Encyclopedia of Pasta, by Oliver Zanini De Vita tells us that gnocchi is primal pasta, the ancestor of all noodles.

Pizza… Yum!
Pizza was first made in Naples, Italy in 1889. The first pizza was made from round bread with basil, tomato sauce, and some cheese to resemble the Italian flag. The ovens were lit by burning wood.
Today, pizza has become so popular and gained recognition as one of the best dishes in the United States. It’s become a favorite American pastime, especially for busy families who take advantage of pizza delivery to your door. Thank goodness our Italian friends back in 1889 came up with such a delicious idea!
Wendy’s of Santa Clarita Finds Customers and Employees Worth Celebrating
Last month, Wendy’s Lyons Avenue customers might have stumbled on a certain celebration, of sorts. Jo Funderburgh of Palm Desert, known by her friends and family as “Mama Jo” turned 85-years old, and even Santa Clarita was celebrating.
Mama Jo, who says she eats at Wendy’s four to five times each week has certainly come to know her local restaurant.

After 32 years in the hotel business with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, 11 year Santa Clarita resident Chris Aldieri has settled down and started up his own restaurant consulting business in the SCV. Specializing in restaurants of all types, Chris also consults with hotels and resorts throughout the Los Angeles area as well as the rest of the country.
