We all know reading to our kids is a good thing—but are you familiar with the specific advantages your toddler or preschool-age child can receive by being exposed to the merits of reading? Below are some benefits that highlight the importance of reading to your child between the ages of two and five.

Summer is coming to an end, which means the start of another school year - just the right time to start music lessons! What’s a good score? A great score? What is the difference between these two tests? Which one should my child take? How important are these scores to the admission’s process? What about taking the test twice? With more questions than answers, you are probably feeling overwhelmed and confused. These tests are given multiple times every year, so when is the right time for your student?

On Friday, May 30, eighteen year-old Kimberly Curry graduated from SCCS with her eyes set on attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in September 2014.
Curry has had many opportunities to get involved in various activities at SCCS. From volleyball, soccer and softball to participation in the student service group, Cardinal Tours and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Curry’s experience at SCCS is not unlike others.

As parents, we have all heard that junior high is not critical in determining students’ future opportunities and that the main purpose of junior high is to allow students to mature socially. However, the pressure for students to achieve academically should be present at any age.  While junior high is a time for students to “find themselves,” it also does determine the likelihood of a student attending a college or university.

The Santa Clarita Valley is home to five high-performing school districts serving a population of 48,000 students in K-12.
The Newhall, Saugus and Sulphur Springs School Districts serve K-6, while the Castaic School District serves K-8 and the William S. Hart Union High School District serves students in grades 7-12, coming from the four elementary school districts.

In a recent poll conducted by One News Now, a division of the American Family News Network, a Christian news service, people were asked the following question – “What’s the primary reason most Christian parents send their children to secular public schools instead of opting for private or home schooling?” The results were quite interesting.
