The S.C.V. Newhall Optimist Club had it ups and it downs this past month. On a sad note we lost a very dear member, but more then that a friend and part of our Optimist family. Dottie Brockman was small in stature, but large in heart and optimism, she put up a valiant fight but succumbed to cancer on May 22.

Newborn Safely Surrendered at Santa Clarita Valley Hospital
The Safe Surrender program is continuing to be effective across the State of California and the Santa Clarita Valley. A newborn child was surrendered at Henry Mayo Hospital in the Santa Clarita Valley this past Spring. It was the eighth Safe Surrender in Los Angeles County in 2007 and the 56th since the program was initiated six years ago.
