While millions are still searching for the fountain of youth, today’s savvy patients and consumers are looking for treatments and services that work in concert with their highly sophisticated skin care products to provide more discernable results.

One of the best ways to live happy and healthy life is to check your health by getting in tune with your body.  In this article, I’ll mention two of them in my seven-part series. 

Sinus headache is one of the most common reasons of patients visit to the physician’s office.
During the winter months, wind, cold air and abundance of viruses aggravate this condition.  In the spring, however, allergy to trees and grasses and in the fall, weed pollens, could all be culprits for allergies and consequently sinusitis or a sinus infection.

Now that the FDA has approved Silicone gel implants for most women, has the dust really settled on this subject?  Most of my patients that I see in consultation still have mixed feelings.  There have been too many years of controversy and junk science for there to be a consensus either way. 

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has been collecting procedural data since 1992 and for the first time breast augmentation tops the list of the most popular surgical cosmetic procedures.  Approximately 329,000 breast augmentations were performed in 2006, compared to rhinoplasty (307,000) and liposuction (303,000), both of which had been the top two cosmetic procedures since 2000. 

A common statement following a cranial sacral treatment (CST) is, “Wow, what did you just do to me.”  I know that you hardly touched me and I fell asleep during the session, but the impact is phenomenal.

Cranial sacral work has been known to have a profound impact on the body.  Gentle hands are used along the skull, spine and sacrum to encourage the body to help heal itself.  CST is used to treat a multitude of conditions, illness as well as to encourage general good health.

Almost everyone has parasites.  It’s simply a fact of life.  Even Dr. Oz, the now famous Oprah Winfrey guest says, “90 percent of humans will have a problem with parasites in their lifetime.”

All children hit their heads during their childhood.  Most head injuries are minor and as long as the child is otherwise healthy do not require immediate medical attention.  If your child is alert and responding well after the head injury then usually no additional testing will be needed.  Often times, your child may cry initially and then continue to play afterwards.

Today’s prospective patient has more choices than ever before for the type and technique of breast augmentation.  Silicone gel-filled implants were recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration, providing an excellent alternative for many women.  Unfortunately, because silicone gel-filled implants come pre-filled, they cannot be placed through small, remote incisions.

Injuries are common among physically active people. Especially when you start a new activity or resume an activity after taking a break from it, you get muscle aches and pains very easily, because the muscles used for the activity need time to build strength and endurance.  Most sports injuries are caused by either accidents or overuse.  Overuse injuries can be avoided if you train properly for activities and use appropriate equipment.

Surgeons dramatically overestimate the effectiveness of surgery.  Specifically, surgeons predict at least moderate improvement for almost all patients undergoing back surgery, yet nearly 40 percent of patients experience little or no improvement one year after their operation.  These findings are from a just published study in the journal spine.

You have pain from an ingrown toenail and it’s getting worse.  But since it’s only a toe, why bother visiting a podiatrist? After all, it’s just an ingrown toenail.  It’s not serious.  Is it?

Headaches are generally classified into several basic types, including sinus, cluster, tension and migraine.  Improper alignment of the teeth can play a significant role in certain types of headaches, as well as other head and neck pain.

Migraine headache pain interrupts life.  People who are incredibly strong can be crippled when a migraine strikes.  Pain throbs on the side of the head and often goes behind the eyes.  It can be so intense that it can cause vomiting.  There are many triggers for migraine, but the most common are contracted veins and stresses of all kinds.
