Iron Horse Trail Dedication
Equestrians, bicyclists, runners and sightseers are celebrating the completion of a new scenic route, as the Iron Horse Trailhead opened to hundreds of trail enthusiasts on June 13, providing a new connection to the South Fork Trail.

The City of Santa Clarita hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 28, to celebrate the completion of the Lyons Avenue / Interstate 5 beautification project.
Celebrating Independence and Volunteerism
Residents enjoyed the Santa Clarita 4th of July Parade, which began at 9:00 a.m. in Old Town Newhall. The mile-long parade route featured horses, floats, music, classic cars, military presentations and more. The participants traveled down Main Street, Lyons Avenue and Orchard Village Road before finishing at 16th Street.
Honoring 40 Years in Service and Our Fallen Heroes
It was a warm summer afternoon as the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station celebrated 40 years of service on June 28. The current Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station opened on May 8, 1972 and has continued its service to our community, making Santa Clarita a much sought after and safe community to live in.

The 33rd annual Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Pageant was held Saturday, June 16 at the Performing Arts Center at COC. Fifty women from the Santa Clarita Valley worked very hard to win the titles of Miss Santa Clarita Valley, Mrs. SCV, Ms. SCV, Miss Teen SCV, Jr. Miss SCV, Little Miss SCV.
Mitch’s Java ‘n Jazz Coffeehouse Returns!
On Saturday night, June 9 “A Night of Mitch’s Java ‘N Jazz” kicked off the beginning of a new era for this independent coffeehouse. Local entrepreneur, Mitch McMullen (Newhall Coffee Roasting Company), brought his coffeehouse, Mitch’s Java ‘N Jazz, back to the Santa Clarita Valley.

On Saturday, June 2, The 5th Annual Santa Clarita Valley Blues Festival & BBQ in the Park was held Mountain View Park. An evening full of rhythm and sould, this free event also had a huge car show, a kid’s zone, vendors, raffles, silent auctions, great food, a live radio truck and a professional video crew.
