A Word about Personal Development!
Personal development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realize and maximize their potential. It’s a conscious pursuit of personal growth by expanding self-awareness and knowledge and improving personal skills. Personal development skills include mind, body, spirit as well as level of success in all areas of life. The ultimate goal of Personal Development is to be a self-realized human being. That means living consciously at your full potential and reaching real happiness in your life. There are no “quick fixes” or shortcuts to personal development. You must be willing to work hard and be patient.
I believe that humans are capable of so much more than we realize and we strive to cultivate a culture of greatness here at SOF. It is up to you to decide what you want out of life and the possibilities are endless. What does your ideal life look like? First, you must decide what you need and or want. Next, you set your intentions and clearly define your goals. In order for this to work you must believe in yourself and believe in the process. Then, you map it all out and create a battle plan. The last thing left to do is roll up your sleeves and put in the hard work. You must wake up every day and actively work towards accomplishing your goals. With the desired outcome in mind you take it step by step, day by day and before you know it you’ve accomplished your goal(s)!
I also believe that everyone has the potential to accomplish many things and achieve greatness in their life. The goal is to cultivate a positive attitude and a “can do” spirit. Strive to be an honest to goodness, down to earth person who is willing to learn lessons along the way. I thoroughly enjoy helping people meet their true potential and I love to share the wisdom gained on my journey. There are many approaches and numerous philosophies to living life. Honor diversity and strive to keep an open-minded approach in everything that you do. We have a “follow your heart but bring your brain with you” policy here at SOF! As open-minded as we are, if something doesn’t jive with science it is quickly discarded. We like to keep it fun, simple and effective with no added woo and or fluff.
Personal development is not measured by financial, social or external success. Instead it is determined by our efforts to develop our intellectual, physical and spiritual aspects in order to reach our full human potential. In the process of developing ourselves, we also strive to express our talents and abilities for the enrichment and benefit others. Your life will become progressively better as you actively work on yourself and that includes your mental, physical, emotional, social and financial life. Self-actualized people are creative and spontaneous, possess a good sense of humor and are able to tolerate uncertainty. Although they may be driven to be successful and wealthy they understand the most important aspects of life are not material possessions and accomplishments. They have an appreciation for what life has to offer, a deep concern for others and are able to enjoy close, meaningful, personal relationships. The bottom line is people who continually work on their personal development will improve their life as well as their level of happiness.
