What Supplements Should I take?
As promised in my last article I will be discussing which supplements most people should be taking this month. Chances are you are not getting all of the nutrients that you need from your normal diet so supplementation acts as your second line of defense when it comes to proper nutrition. Even if you are eating healthy and nutritious food on a consistent basis it’s still possible that you aren’t getting all the nutrients that you need from food. Current evidence suggests that nutrients from food is more beneficial than nutrients from supplements. That is why you should focus on eating a balanced and nutrient rich diet first. However, adhering to a healthy diet is rarely enough to provide the body with everything that it needs. There is plenty of evidence that suggests that a higher intake of nutrients via a nutritious diet in conjunction with proper supplementation may improve your health as well as prolong your life. We live in a demanding, stressful and toxic world that requires a healthy and optimized human body to counteract the negative environmental factors with regards to health and nutrition.
The three basic supplements that just about everyone should be taking to ensure that they are getting all of the nutrients they need are:
1. A premium quality, whole food based multi-mineral/vitamin supplement
2. A premium quality live culture probiotic supplement
3. A premium quality EFA(essential fatty acids) supplement such as fish oil capsules, hempseed and flaxseed
Other supplements most people should be taking to ensure they are getting all of the nutrients they need:
1. A premium quality all natural protein powder
2. A premium quality muscle, bone, ligament, tendon, joint support supplement
3. A digestive enzymes supplement
Supplements to be taken for specific needs and or goals:
1. Creatine and testosterone boosters for muscle growth and strength
2. Mood enhancers, nootropics and or brain boosters for cognitive functions
3. Sleep aids
4. Digestion aids
5. Thermogenics and or Fat Burners for fat loss
6. Pre-workout supplements for energy
You can purchase these supplements at just about any supplement shop or health food store but I highly suggest that you buy from a local business so you can support your community and your money goes back into the local economy.
