Debunking Three Common Health Myths
When it comes to issues regarding health there seems to be an abundance of false information and pseudoscience being perpetuated by all manner of sources. I strongly encourage you to do your own research to verify and or disprove any and all health claims and information that you come across. It’s important to look for information that is backed by peer reviewed scientific research. If you’re not sure about something try typing “Debunked” for any topic you’re interested in and see what pops up. Having said that here are three common health myths debunked to get you started.
Myth 1: Eating alkaline foods reduces your body’s acidity
The fact is that the food you eat does not affect your body’s PH balance in any way. Your kidneys and lungs are responsible for regulating your acid-alkali balance. The idea that eating a diet prominent in alkaline foods will reduce acidity in your body and balance your PH is a total mistruth. Yes, eating lot of fruits and veggies is good for you but not because they are alkaline.
Myth 2: Eggs are bad for you
In all actuality, eggs are really good for you for a variety of reasons. Eggs are packed with healthy fats, protein and a tons of key nutrients. The argument that eggs raise your cholesterol is a false one. Recent research indicates that there is no proof that high cholesterol and or heart problems is caused by eating eggs. You can eat up to two or three whole eggs a day and still be healthy!
Myth 3: Detoxes cleanse your body of toxins
Detoxes and or cleanses are all the rage these days but do they actually work? The fact is our bodies are designed to get rid of toxins naturally. If that wasn’t the case you would probably be dead by now. Your liver and kidneys do an excellent job of detoxifying your body. You certainly don’t need waste your money on detox diets, supplements and or treatments.
