by | Oct 27, 2022 | Community

The SCV Education Foundation will be hosting their 1st Annual Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, November 5th at Central Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a family friendly event where kids of all ages can see and experience a wide variety of large and unique trucks and vehicles up close. There will be a sensory sensitive quiet hour from 9am to 10am for auditory sensitive guests. Tickets are $5 and children 2 years and younger are free. Entertainment, kid-friendly activities, vendor booths, and food trucks will make for a fun filled day!
Along with everyone’s favorite fire trucks, police vehicles, construction rigs, a fleet of utility vehicles, and even a few race cars, there will be Huey helicopter on display from the Vietnam War. There will be a special appearance by Santa Clarita’s own Visiting Superheroes. A team of fur-friends will be on hand to greet guests from Giving Paws and PSOMAS, the Presenting Sponsor will be bringing a host of hands on equipment for kids to enjoy.
New to the event is a “No Zone” Truck, a colorful 53-foot semitrailer, offering participants the opportunity to get a truck’s-eye view of the road and attempt to spot the cars and objects in the truck’s blind spots. The demonstration is sponsored by Heavy-Duty sponsor, Pride Logistics.
“Having had the pleasure of being the Chairperson for Touch-A-Truck for the SCV Senior Center from the beginning, I am privileged to be the “Honorary Chair” for this year’s event for the SCV Education Foundation.  This is a wonderful family event and I thank the Foundation for keeping it alive for all ages to enjoy.”  Sincerely, Marsha McLean, Councilwoman, City of Santa Clarita
This is all made possible with the support of: our presenting sponsor PSOMAS, Pride Logistics, Valencia Auto Center, Farmers Insurance – Damien White Agency, Skyline Smiles, Burrtec, Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts, MB2 Raceway, Snow Orthodontics, and Camping World as well as our media sponsors SCVTV, KHTS, Santa Clarita Magazine, and the Signal SCV. Via Promotions is donating beach balls for the ever popular “Beach Ball Drop”.
“The SCV Education Foundation is very grateful to our sponsors as well as the government agencies, organizations and local companies who have provided support for this family event. As a local non-profit who works in conjunction with each of the five local school, we understand the value of partnership and appreciate the fact that we couldn’t host this event without those who have volunteered to bring a truck to touch”, said Jackie Hartmann, Executive Director of the SCV Education Foundation.
The SCV Education foundation is still offering sponsorship opportunities, vendor booths and vehicles for display. For more information about being a sponsor, displaying a vehicle, providing an activity, becoming a vendor, or being a volunteer, please contact Cyndi Kleinfeld at coordinator@scveducationfoundation.org or 661-305-9394.
