Carnivorous Bliss at T-Bo’s Barbeque
January is a month where we celebrate everything new, so when I was presented with a new and unique opportunity I was happy to oblige. I was lucky enough to be introduced to five different styles of barbeque in one sitting at T-Bo’s House of Barbeque.
When I first met Executive Chef Cameron McClean his warm and welcoming presence truly reflected in the atmosphere and décor of T-Bo’s House of Barbeque. In being greeted by the hostess at the front counter to the server and the service provided, everything is done with care, commitment and love.
J.R.’s Comedy Corner Craig Shoemaker “The Lovemaster” comes to J.R.’s Comedy Club
We are starting the year off with a bang at J.R.’s Comedy Club, now in our 12th year. We have always strived to bring star talent to Santa Clarita. Each week, you can always count on seeing two top-notch comics, many of whom have had their own television shows, Comedy Specials, and starred in movies. On January 15 and 16, we have one of the top drawing comedians in Southern California at our club.
Single in Santa Clarita
My “friend” Holly recently met the man of her dreams on a dating site. She’s in her late 40s and lives here in the SCV. He’s 52, but lives in Long Beach. Even though they were G.U. (geographically undesirable) to each other, he still asked her out. They met in Santa Monica for lunch and spent the next five hours talking, getting Starbucks after lunch, and walking along Palisades Park.
The Fillmore & Western Railway
Resolve to “Staycation In Your Own Backyard” in 2010. No need to pack the car, make hotel reservations and travel hours from home to find something different, exciting, educational and especially fun to do. It’s only a short 20-minute drive from the Santa Clarita Valley to Fillmore, home of The Movie Trains.

Your singing gift that says “I Love You” includes a two love song Serenade, a Valentine’s Day card with your personalized greeting and a flower gift.

Message From the Mayor Laurene Weste
Greetings! I hope that you and your family enjoyed a happy holiday season.
It is my honor to serve as your Mayor this year. For those of you who may not know me, I have served as a City Councilmember for the last 12 years. I started my career with the City even before cityhood by serving on the City formation committee. I was then selected as one of the original members of the City’s first Parks Commission. I have always had a passion for trails, parks and open space for your community. I am very proud of the progress our City and its partners have made with regard to our trails, paseos, parks, open space and recreation facilities over the last two decades.

Fresh Fish Part Two
Why make all this fuss about fresh fish? How about those who are pregnant? People tell me all the time that they are pregnant and they cannot have fish, especially raw fish. Why do doctors tell their patients this when there are so many benefits to eating fish such as the omega-3 fatty acids that everyone knows about now, but did you know that there are recent studies that indicate that it lowers prostate cancer risk, helps with depression, and inflammation reduction? Did you know that doctors in Japan recommend pregnant women to eat fish, even sushi during their pregnancy?

Limited Engagement of “Twelfth Night” at CTG
The twelfth night after Christmas, January 6, was a time when servants and masters would exchange clothes and take on each other’s persona. Shakespeare’s play is certainly in this tradition. And, due to an unexpected opening in the CTG’s calendar, we are pleased to be able to present Twelfth Night for a limited two weekend run, beginning just two days after twelfth night (January 8, 2010).

Radio – The Medium That Refuses to Disappear
In the early evening hours of November 2, 1920, the history of human communication changed forever when, atop the Westinghouse “K” Building in East Pittsburgh, radio station KDKA began its first broadcast with reports on election returns in the Presidential race between Warren G. Harding and James M. Cox. It was the first radio station in the United States to be granted a limited commercial license.
