One of a Kind Mediterranean Bakery and Café

One of a Kind Mediterranean Bakery and Café

As soon as you walk through Man’oushee’s glass doors, you know you’ve stepped into a bakery-Café like none other in the Santa Clarita Valley.  The smells of Lebanese and Armenian savory and sweet treats fill the air and transport you halfway around the world.  The food is fresh, everything prepared from scratch every single morning and baked in their one of a kind brick ovens.  Owners, Maral Sabounjian and Natacha Matar, who also happen to be best friends along with the great help of their friend and chef Omaya Saab, take great pride in the food and service that they provide.  Maral says that “Owning this bakery is more than just a job for us; it’s about passing down traditions as well as introducing the food and a part of our culture to those who have never experienced it before.”

Election Day!

Election Day!

If I talk too much about politics, I am bound to tick someone off so let’s see what we can all agree upon.  How about, that we in this country, from time to time in our history have elected some slightly silly people to office.  Can we all agree on that?  Good.  One of my favorites was a Senator from South Carolina named Strom Thurmond.

Thyme for the Holiday Party

Savor the Season at Le Paris Bakery and Café

Savor the Season at Le Paris Bakery and Café

Are you longing for a delicious cake or savory crêpe?  With the weather cooling down, there’s no better way to greet the season of fall with warm homemade breads, muffins and pastries from Le Paris Bakery and Café.   Savor the season with a delectable pumpkin crème brulée or a freshly baked spice cake.  Enjoy a cup of specialty tea and freshly baked zucchini bread.  Try a delightful pumpkin mousse or indulge in a mouth-watering Bavarian cream.  Satisfy your taste buds with the sweet tastes of Paris!

“Thyme” For the Holidays!

“Thyme” For the Holidays!

The arrival of the fall and winter holiday season can bring lots of fun, food and feasting.  However, if food isn’t handled or prepared properly, food poisoning can result, and festivity can quickly turn into calamity.  Food poisoning is caused by toxins, created by bacteria, which in most cases are undetectable by sight, smell or taste.  Millions of people are affected by food poisoning each year.

Sail Into 2009 at New Year’s Eve Bon Voyage Ball

Mark your calendar now for LETMESAIL’s 2nd Annual New Year’s Eve Bon Voyage Ball, which will be held once again at the Hyatt Valencia Grand Ball Room.  For those of you who attended the inaugural event last year, you will remember that it was “the place to be” to ring in the New Year!  We are thrilled to announce that Poole & Shaffery, LLP Attorneys at Law are again this year’s generous title sponsor.

Musical Mayhem and Fun for All

Musical Mayhem and Fun for All

The fall Family Season offering at the Canyon Theatre Guild is a fun-filled show, “Musical! The Bard is Back!”  As any theater aficionado knows, it is considered “bad luck” to speak the name of Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play” while inside a theater.  Those who are foolish enough to do so are “cursed” in their production.

Calling All Meat Lovers Barbacoa Brazilian Steakhouse

Calling All Meat Lovers Barbacoa Brazilian Steakhouse

Barbacoa Brazilian Steakhouse offers a unique dining experience and although there’s plenty of other good food to enjoy, this restaurant is all about meat.  There’s even a specialty meat chef.  David Mulin is from Brazil and has undergone extensive training in the preparation of the meat that is skewered and grilled over a special grill to insure that every skewer offered by the gauchos is presented with consistency.

“Thyme” to Get Off the Rollercoaster!

“Thyme” to Get Off the Rollercoaster!

For most of us “dieting” means eating less food less often, eating foods we don’t like (raw vegetables, fat-free cottage cheese, rice cakes, etc.), and going without foods we do like (pizza, chocolate, etc.).  There’s one problem with this strategy — It doesn’t work!  Here’s why:  when you suddenly go on a “diet”, your body goes into starvation mode.  Without going into boring details, your body actually stores more fat.  While you may weigh less, you’re actually fatter than you were before you started your “diet.”  When you finally do eat more normally, your body then stores those calories as fat as well (in anticipation of the next time you starve it) making you even fatter!
