J.R.’s Comedy Corner Funny Fundraiser’s
Hello comedy fans – we have another month of comedy, which is so hilarious it is “spooky.” We start the month off on October 5 and 6, with Chris Alpine making his first appearance at J.R.’s.
Chris formed his comedy chops in Seattle, and has become one of the most demanded comedians on cruise ships, and corporate events in the country.
Councilmember Marsha McLean Receives Sierra Club Award McLean Is 2012 SCV Conservationist of the Year!
Santa Clarita City Councilmember Marsha McLean is the 2012 recipient of the Sierra Club’s Conservationist of the Year for her work in preserving Elsmere Canyon. The award is from the Santa Clarita Valley chapter of the Sierra Club.
“I am so proud of Marsha’s 25-plus years of work on this issue. It has culminated in Elsmere Canyon not only being saved from becoming a dump, but this beautiful canyon is now preserved and annexed into the City of Santa Clarita. This is a tremendous victory for everyone,” commented Sandra Cattell, Open Space and Wildlands Chair for the Sierra Club Santa Clarita Group.
The Belgians Are Coming!
The first Santa Clarita Belgian beer fest held in downtown Newhall was thoroughly enjoyed by those that wanted to sample Belgian ales, lambics and stouts, those that wanted to wine taste, and those that love food trucks, beer lessons, Belgian waffles, Belgian frites and much more.

City Installs “Visit Santa Clarita” Exhibit Featuring Work by COC Students
The walls of the First Floor Gallery at City Hall now include more than 40 works of art by students of College of the Canyons’ Graphic and Multimedia Design Program. The new exhibit titled “Visit Santa Clarita, Illustrated Travel Posters” was installed this week and will be on display through November 16, at City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.

The REP is delighted to present the final chapter of our favorite detective in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, sponsored by Power Valencia. Writer Stephen Dietz has adapted the story, based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and brings a fresh flare that is sure to please even the purest of Sherlock fans!
