Oh, how I love a great romance! When actor Lou Diamond Phillips was the celebrity host at this year’s Soroptimists annual gala/auction, film make-up artist, Yvonne Bosmier was sporting a fabulous new diamond ring on her left hand. Yes, one week after The Magazine of Santa Clarita interviewed Phillips, the Tony and Golden Globe-nominated actor, popped the question on his birthday.

Celebrity Sightings – April

Santa Clarita art gallery owner Dave Joseph and his wife Barbara found out first hand about the goings on at the set of the CBS television show NCIS. The couple visited the set of the show filmed in the Santa Clarita Valley and watched actor Mark Harmon in action. Harmon plays a former Marine gunnery sergeant who leads a colorful troupe of personalities, including forensic specialist Abby Sciuto played by Pauley Perrette.

Celebrity Sightings – March

Actor Michael Peña is consistent. Consistent, that is with his realistic portrayal of characters in film and television and in his eating routine at Sisley Italian Kitchen in the Valencia Town Center Mall. A waitress reports that the actor who appeared as Daniel in the 2004 Best Picture of the Year Oscar winning film, Crash is predictable when it comes to his culinary tastes. Peña is a regular at the Italian eatery; his routine is to always order three glasses of Chardonnay and the Sisley chicken for himself.

Celebrity Sightings – February

If life does indeed reflect art, this months celebrity sighting is a prime example. Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah Montana, a character in the hit Disney T.V. show, was recently seen shopping at the Valencia Town Center Mall. In the show, Cyrus leads a double life as a famous pop singer and an ordinary teen. Santa Clarita is apparently an ideal spot for Cyrus to enjoy the freedom and anonymity of an ordinary teen and not a superstar.

Hollywood is always crawling with celebrities. They’re everywhere and anywhere you go when you’d least expect it. It’s natural to see one while you’re just walking down the streets of L.A. I once saw actor Richard Gere at my local pharmacy in Valley Village, before I moved to Valencia. With it’s close proximity to L.A., celebrities frequent the Santa Clarita valley, as well.
