“Just say no,” may have become a common theme in the fight against the use of drugs, and the thread of that simple, yet effective campaign rings loud and clear every quarter at the City of Santa Clarita’s Dads and Moms Against Drugs (DADS) program.

The eyes of the young women who recently gathered at the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild’s Silver Rose Debutante Introduction Night shined as they learned about the events and opportunities that will abound during the 2007-08 debutante season.

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital on June 21 celebrated the completion and opening of a connecting corridor that now links the main hospital building with the pavilion structure.

While High School Graduates could be singing the song, “Schools Out For The Summer” made famous by Alice Cooper, they most likely aren’t.  But, what is for certain is Santa Clarita Valley students are getting a well-deserved break from studying.

If you’ve attended a Santa Clarita event, you’ve most likely got Donna Avila to thank for the fun you’ve had.  Avila is a full-time event coordinator for the City and says she is grateful for being able to use her gifts to make life better for others.

Hundreds of supporters will be out in force on their bikes and in their cars for the annual Downed Officer Support Ride (DOSR) next month.  The annual event was founded 12 years ago by Robert Norlemann, now retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Retiring College of the Canyons (COC) instructor Gloria McKimmey devoted 31 years to her students.  In honor of her impending retirement, her family has established a scholarship that will be awarded to a female COC student who demonstrates merit and is a single parent.

This month marks the celebration of the independence of the United States of America and the celebrations across the country will be filled with picnics, fireworks and grateful pauses for the freedom we embrace and defend.

Princess Cruises and Providence Holy Cross become the newest members of The Corporate 100 at a recent fundraiser and the dates were also announced for TTP/SCV’s 2007-2008 events at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center.

The Santa Clarita Ballet Academy is a highly-structured, comprehensive training program that teaches dance in a correct, proper way according to the standards set by the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance in London.  
With five primary teachers at the Academy, each accredited by the Royal Academy of Dance, students receive top-notch training on one of the four dance floors at the Santa Clarita School.
