Diligently Choosing the Best Choices For Your Child’s Success
“These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.” NASU - Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Legacy Christian Academy Students Score in Top Eight Percent
Legacy Christian Academy students once again earned exceptional scores on this year’s Stanford Achievement Test (SAT-10). The exam, which was administered to Legacy Kinder through eighth grade students in May, has been the benchmark of excellence in achievement testing for more than 80 years.
Managing Back-to-School Anxiety
School will be starting soon and this can cause a lot of anxiety for some kids. Some worrying is to be expected, but if you feel that your child is really stressed there are a few things you can do.
First of all, remember that everyone sees things differently and something that may not seem like a big deal to you (i.e. the first day of school) can be very upsetting or even traumatic to your child.
College Prep ACT versus SAT
What’s a good score? A great score? What is the difference between these two tests? Which one should my child take? How important are these scores to the admissions process? What about taking the test twice? With more questions than answers, you are probably feeling overwhelmed and confused. These tests are given multiple times every year, so when is the right time for your student?
School Is In Session Back-to-School Tips for Parents
Back to school is just around the corner, for many of us that means making sure our kids get to bed early to get a good night’s rest, prepping our kids lunches before they take off to school, and making sure that they have a good healthy breakfast before heading out the front door for the day. Is your child ready to succeed?
Ready for School?
Are you ready for school to begin? Is your child ready for school to begin? It may still be summer with many family activities and vacation plans and memories, but school is just around the corner. Saugus Union School District schools open their doors for their first day of school on Wednesday, August 12. Where did summer go?
As you get ready for the new school year, consider how you might be more involved at home, at school and at the district level. Parents are the key to inspiring and supporting lifelong learners!
Sulphur Springs Union School District “Working Together To Support Student Learning!”
Welcome to the 2015-16 school year! When many of us think about elementary school, we remember fondly the days of chalkboards, overhead projectors, and dittos. Â We remember the times teachers helped us, nurtured us, and challenged us to be our best. Â School was our community as a child, and everyday was a chance to learn and grow in that community.
Christian Education –Can You Afford Not To?
In a recent poll conducted by One News Now, a division of the American Family News Network, a Christian news service, people were asked the following question – “What’s the primary reason most Christian parents send their children to secular public schools instead of opting for private or home schooling?” The results were quite interesting.
Of the 34,476 respondents, a full 70 percent of the respondents answered “It is easier and less expensive than private or home schooling.”
Back 2 School Education Guide – August 2015
This time of the year can be exciting, stressful, and everything in between, so to help you,
we created this Back 2 School Education Guide for all of your back to school needs.
When Learning is Fun
Kids have been enjoying summer fun for several weeks, and now is a good time to look back and assess what went well and what did not. Don’t dwell on what didn’t happen this year because we cannot change it now, but don’t slide into the same pattern next year. Don’t wait until fall to think about making changes for the next school year. We want to create life-long learners so our message this summer should be that learning is fun.
Brain Compatible Strategies for Learning
Every student can access the curriculum when teachers use brain-based strategies that increase learning and achievement. When teachers use brain compatible techniques in lessons, students are more apt to pay attention, recall information, and delve into higher levels of thinking.
Movement has been found to improve creativity, memory, and reaction time in children.
Pinecrest Schools: Let’s Go Bulldogs!
Owned and operated by the Dye Family since 1951, Pinecrest Schools offers students from 18 months to 8th grade a “safe, positive, and diverse experience.” All of the Pinecrest Schools are family owned and operated, in order to stay in line with the families’ original objectives.
There are currently five Pinecrest Schools, each with unique qualities. These campuses are located in Canyon Country, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, and Woodland Hills. With various campuses, you can choose the best fit for both you and your child.
The Heat is On: Finding a Preschool That’s Right for Your Child
It may be July, but we’re already thinking ahead to the rapidly approaching school year. Is it time to send your baby off to school? That’s a huge decision and one I respect, being a mom of three. Here are the three biggest lessons I’ve learned:
1. The most important thing about preschool is that your child acquires a love of learning.
Why You Should Worry About the New SAT Test
With the release of the new SAT in March of 2016 there is great concern about how this radically changed exam will affect college admissions. If your child plans to take this test, you absolutely need to know how to prepare.
In late December, the College Board writers released the most comprehensive sample problem set to date drawn from the new SAT and PSAT.
A Few Things to Know About Preschools!
How do you go about finding the preschool that is right for your child and your family? There are so many, do you know the questions to ask!
Do you know that there should be no more than 12 children in each class with one Lead Teacher (Fully Qualified Teacher) at any given time for preschool age children? If the classroom has 15 children a fully qualified teacher with an aide must be present at all times.
Improving your Kids’ Executive Functioning skills
Often referred to as the “orchestra conductor” of our brain, the Executive Functioning (EF) system is what allows us to successfully do things such as: problem-solve, organize, sequence, initiate, attend, plan, shift between tasks and thoughts, and control our emotions and impulses. It is also responsible for enabling us to delay gratification, learn from mistakes, and persist in the face of challenges. The EF system coordinates input from multiple various regions of the brain and organizes our behavioral responses.
Life Can Be Puzzling
Whether you are a new parent or have seniors about to venture out into the world, it can be a struggle at times to help chart a clear path for your child’s success. Every age has its challenges, rewards, and difficulties. The Greek philosopher Democritus once said “Raising children is an uncertain thing; success is reached only after a life of battle and worry.”
Congratulations Legacy 2015 Graduates A Note of Thanks from Tia Bakhaya, LCA Valedictorian
My fellow Legacy students and I have been blessed to have an academic experience that was rare and wonderful. The opportunity to grow so close with classmates, teachers and staff simply doesn’t exist at most other schools.
