Gifts from the Heart

The award-winning Healthy Kids Club (HKC) was developed in 1993 by the Zonta Club to serve the nearby community of Val Verde.  The goal is to improve children’s quality of life by exposing these youth, ages eight through 16, to the arts, health issues and educational opportunities.  Scholarships are also available to any HKC member to pursue additional training or education after high school graduation.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I wondered what the friendly staff at Jewelry World would like to suggest for gift giving at this time of the year.

The Santa Clarita Domestic Violence Center (DVC) assisted with the needs of more than 500 call-in victims seeking help during the past 12 months.

Well we have been busy this last month and as promised I am glad to announce the winners of the essay contest held recently.

As part of the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read program, best-selling author Ray Bradbury made a rare appearance in Santa Clarita last month at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.

“A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P.”  That’s Kaleb (almost 3 years old) working at the kid’s iMac G4 computer at the front door.  He’s our official greeter.  Oh, by the way kids are welcome here and have a place at the computer.

Setting school history, the Valencia High School Dance Team won the National Championship Title for large jazz dance and the National Championship Title for large character dance.

One of my favorites parts of being pregnant is seeing my husband’s glow (you know, that really great smile that overcomes his whole face) when he looks at me. 

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  This month we are encouraged to get involved with community organizations that promote the health and welfare of families in our community. 

Nothing spells class and timeless elegance like a string of pearls.  Just ask any mother how special she felt when she received her first string of pearls.  She does have pearls, doesn’t she?
