Is Your Computer Causing You Pain?
We all have seen “ergonomic” devices advertised that protect our wrist while we type, such as keyboards with wrist supports. But, has anyone ever explained what we can do ourselves to prevent injuries from occurring without spending any money?
The Lifestyle Lift®: Revolution or Shortcut?
Ads for the Lifestyle Lift® stating a person can “look years younger” with this “breakthrough medical procedure” bring to mind the adage caveat emptor: let the buyer beware. My skepticism comes from the experience of having observed similar miraculous procedures come and go over the years. The Lifestyle Lift® is a limited or “mini” facelift and is said to be a cheaper, faster procedure with less recovery time than a traditional facelift. These claims may be true yet they come without warnings that the improvement will be proportionately less than with standard procedures.
Bridging the Nutritional Gap Towards Wellness Care
As a nation, we eat poor-quality foods that have been stripped of nutrients. We do not consume enough fresh fruits and vegetables. We eat a tremendous amount of prepackaged, pre-made meals. One-quarter of Americans eat at fast food restaurants each day. Americans are overfed and undernourished. We eat plenty but we are still starving!
Sports Injury and Optimum Performance!
The performance of the body during athletics is more dependent on the spine than any other skeletal structure. The spine serves as a pillar for the body and also supplies the nervous control for the many muscles of the trunk, arms and legs. All athletes, from the weekend warrior to Olympians, want the best possible performance from their body, and to avoid injury. A structurally and mechanically balanced body has a greatly reduced risk of injury.

Lighten Your Child’s Load
As millions of kids get ready to go back to school, many will pull out old backpacks or purchase new ones. While the books, homework assignments, lunches, and other school gear those bags carry may be important for success in school, some experts point to backpack use as the leading cause of a growing trend in back pain among youngsters. In fact, a recent study conducted in Italy found that nearly 60 percent of children carrying heavy backpacks experienced back pain as a result.
Does Your Spinal Decompression Twist, Flex or Rotate?
To understand Spinal Decompression you must first understand the importance of your discs. Located between each vertebra is a cartilage disc. This disc is to act as a spacer to keep the vertebrae apart. It also acts as a rubber bushing, providing a spinal shock absorber. They also provide a specialized surface for each vertebra to mechanically move on. This movement is necessary to nourish the discs.
Skin Lightening Agents
As long summer days come to an end, some of us may be noticing a few new brown spots where there weren’t any before. First and foremost we always suggest you see your dermatologist to determine the nature of these spots. If in fact these are diagnosed as hyperpigmentation or melasma then a skin-lightening program can help fade these spots away.
Healthy Halloween Tips
On Halloween, our little “trick or treaters” get so much candy, full of sugar and chemical additives. Sugar is known to cause hyperactivity in children and dental problems, as well as mood swings, depression and obesity. But, it’s not only the sugar that’s so bad for them. It’s also the other chemical additives, including artificial and natural flavors and FD&C colors, most of which are derived from coal tar which is a carcinogen.

Henry Mayo Celebrates 33 Years of Commitment to Santa Clarita
Staff, physicians and volunteers at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital are celebrating this week and for good cause! This week marks the hospital’s 33rd year of providing quality, compassionate healthcare to the Santa Clarita community.
Henry Mayo opened its doors on August 15, 1975 amid farmland and rural communities with 100 beds. Today, the hospital includes 221 patient beds and more than 1,200 employees.
Can Scuba Diving Cause Any Dental Problems?
Before you go scuba diving, you better see your dentist because this sport can lead to jaw joint pain, gum tissue problems, or “tooth squeeze” which is pain in the center of the tooth caused by the changing pressure. All of these symptoms add up to “diver’s mouth syndrome,” a condition of the mouth that is caused by the mouthpiece and by the air pressure change involved in scuba diving - a sport that is enjoyed by about four million enthusiasts in the United States. “Diver’s mouth syndrome” is also called barodontalgia.
