Let’s talk about nutrition, more specifically supplements.  You hear about them everyday.  You all have neighbors who have tried to sell you the latest multilevel marketing supplement, drink, shake or concoction, but do they work?  Who are you getting your nutritional advice from?  Why would you get your advice from a friend or neighbor?  Where did they get their education on nutrition and vitamins? 

A pterygium is a wing-shaped growth that crosses over from the white part of the eye onto the cornea or over the colored part of the eye.  If the growth is restricted to the white part of the eye it is called a pinguecula.  Over time it is possible for the pinguecula to become a pterygium if it grows.  They are typically located on the inside or nasal corner of the eye.

Obesity is loosely defined as being 100 pounds over ideal body weight or body mass index (BMI) of 40 or greater - or between 35 and 40 with those who have co-morbid factors.  Co-morbid factors include high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and sleep apnea.

Heel/Arch pain is one of the most common foot ailments affecting millions of people on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, this affliction is left untreated by a majority of the population, figuring that it will go away, or accepting that the pain is typical with excessive standing or walking.  Eventually, this ailment becomes chronic in nature, often manifesting with “First step pain” when getting out of bed or after a period of rest, usually dissipating after a few minutes of walking, then eventually returning later in the day.

If you are frequently using medication to treat recurring symptoms, stop and think a minute.  Maybe you aren’t getting to the cause of the problem, but merely covering up symptoms.  Of course, some problems require medication.  As doctors of chiropractic, we look to treat the cause of the problem.  Working with patients in this way is extremely rewarding, especially when we see them reach a pain-free lifestyle.  As chiropractors we often see conditions of the spine that can be treated safely and naturally with great results.  This helps in reducing the use of medications.

One of the easiest dental problems to spot is a buildup of plaque.  Plaque is the soft, sticky layer of bacteria that is constantly forming on the teeth.  It is usually invisible to the naked eye.  However, when a person is not brushing adequately, enough plaque can build up to appear as a thick, whitish coating on the teeth at the gum line.  If not removed, it can lead to other such problems as gum disease and cavities.
