The National Cancer Institute estimates that there will be more than 200,000 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States this year and more than 27,000 deaths from the disease.

When Barbara Walsh bought tickets for her great nieces to see and hear the legendary Poncho Sanchez in an intimate late afternoon demonstration held exclusively for a handful of ticket holders, she figured it would be a real treat.  The Castaic woman didn’t have a clue, though, that she would end up winning a raffle prize, a conga drum by Remo, the company that makes Sanchezs’ conga drums.

Welcome to Rio Rio Churrascaria, the premiere location for Brazilian cuisine in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Churrascaria (Shoo-rah-ska-REE-uh) translates as house of barbecue and is a centuries-old traditional form of dining in the Brazilian plains of Rio Grand do Sul.

The ancient Greek philosopher, Plato, once observed that music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul.  Even though he was referring to the music we may not appreciate today, he hit upon an important universal truth.  He could well be talking about the choral music that will fill the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center on May 19th.

You may as well succumb to the Zen atmosphere and healthy tastes at Manee House, because if you don’t, you’ll be missing out on a mighty fine dining experience. 

There should be a drawing of a tea bag inside a prohibited circle hanging on the door of Santa’s Clarita’s newest tearoom.  The Tea Gardens only serves high quality, premium loose-leaf tea, more than fifty varieties.  You won’t find a teabag in the house and for good reason.
