Canyon Theatre Guild Announces 2013-2014 Season
The CTG is proud and pleased to announce that the 2013-2014 Season is beginning with the Santa Clarita Regional Theatre production of the international musical sensation, Les Miserables. The performance rights to this hugely popular show have only recently become available and this is the first full production of the show in this area. Les Miserables is being presented at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, with a 16-piece orchestra and a cast of 80.
The Old Town Newhall Playhouse kicks off the season with a rocking sixties musical, Why Do Fools Fall in Love? You’ll take a trip to the past, where beehives, boys, and breakups are the order of the day as you follow these friends on their journeys to love. Why Do Fools Fall in Love? runs from July 27 through August 25.
Flavors of Italy
Italy was unified in 1861 and at that time, Italian cuisine was extremely varied and reflected cultural diversity rich in history and influences from neighboring countries. Influences from the Roman, Greek, and Arabs helped mold Italy’s cuisine.
A prime example of the Mediterranean diet is tomatoes and olive oil.

Healthy Benefits of Eating Sushi
Sushi is easily the most popular Japanese dish. Sushi is considered to be very healthy because it is mostly produced from fish, rice and vegetables made from the freshest ingredients. The fine flavor of rice, vegetables and fish is only enhanced through soy sauce, wasabi and ginger.
The Auction
Another auction has come and gone, and believe it or not, this one was even better. I would personally like to thank the ladies of the Soroptimist club. It was such a great honor to be asked back again. I wish I could tell you everything that happened, but this will have to do. It was incredible, amazing, shocking, exciting, spectacular, fantastic, and unbelievable.

When a Surprise Phone Call Makes Your Day
Every now and then, something happens that absolutely makes your day. Or your week! A surprise visit from a friend or relative, unannounced, that injects just the right amount of joy into your day that no matter what happens for the rest of that day (or week), it just seems that…everything will be ‘ok” because of that singular, spontaneous event. So it was for Peg and I, here at Planet Yogurt, two weeks ago when we received a call from SCV’s élite Magazine, informing us that their readers’ poll had chosen Planet Yogurt as the “2013 Winner of the Ultimate Frozen Yogurt Award.” Who? Us? And of course I’m thinking “Wait…we’ve only been open eight months!”

Pizza… Yum!
Pizza was first made in Naples, Italy in 1889. The first pizza was made from round bread with basil, tomato sauce, and some cheese to resemble the Italian flag. The ovens were lit by burning wood.
Today, pizza has become so popular and gained recognition as one of the best dishes in the United States.
Celebrate the 4th of July
Most people in the United States celebrate the 4th of July, but do you know exactly why the holiday is so important to our country? As time goes forward we tend to forget why this day is so important and how it came to be.
Great Britain kept trying to make the colonists follow more rules and pay higher taxes. People started getting mad and began making plans to be able to make their own rules. They no longer wanted Great Britain to be able to tell them what to do, so they decided to tell Great Britain that they were becoming an independent country.
The Tilted Kilt
What features an average of 35, 50-inch flat screen televisions, women serving beer in minimal Celtic garb and thrives on being a little skewed?
The Tilted Kilt, of course.
And, the chain has been labeled one of the fastest growing in the nation.
That could be because President Ron Lynch is no stranger to the restaurant franchising business.

An amazing tribute to one of rocks greatest show bands, Queen. Queen Nation is a picturesque re-creation of vintage Queen. Lead vocalists Joe or Gregory capture Freddy Mercury’s voice and mannerisms complemented by the perfect look and sound of Mike on guitar doing the Brian May riffs.
A Passion for Sushi
For fresh sushi and great Japanese cuisine, New Kyoto is the place to be. Located in Stevenson Ranch, the restaurant provides an inviting place to enjoy a drink with some friends during happy hour or indulge in some great, fresh sushi or sashimi. It’s an upscale, yet simple restaurant where friendly employees are always willing to give customers a memorable dining experience that will make them want to come back for more. Since sushi is still an unknown quantity to some, New Kyoto hopes to make it more approachable. Certainly the restaurant’s creative menu, complete with special signature rolls, will help do that.
Gentlemen Up For Bid!
It was an exciting evening as 18 men were auctioned off at the Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley’s 2nd Annual “Gentlemen for a Cause” event on June 8 at the beautiful Westridge Clubhouse.
Dating – Do’s and Don’ts
I am sure you are all wondering how the auction went? Did anyone bid on me, and if so, how did the date with the winning bidder go? Well you will just have to wait till next month to find out. Why? The article needed to be sent in before the auction took place. So next month’s article will hopefully be a doozy.
In the meantime, let’s talk dating.
