Toy Lending Library Developed from Grant Money
Two Santa Clarita Valley licensed home childcare providers/preschool teachers are using their earned award money for the good of SCV children.
Using the $1000 grant earned through the Betty Brady teacher award from the Southern California Kindergarten Conference earlier this year, Kathleen Shea and Mary Gregory developed a toy lending library for preschoolers and day care providers in the non-profit Family Day Care Association of the SCV.

On March 24, the local AAUW branch held its annual math/science conference. It was a huge success. It was fully subscribed two weeks before the conference date. It offered twenty hands-on workshops presented by professional women in various fields of math, science and technology to seventh and eighth grade students.
Bowl-a-thon A Success
Well, our first annual Bowl-a-thon is completed and what a success it was. The turnout from the community was just overwhelming and the amount of money raised for the first time was just awesome. Don’t have all the figurers yet but somewhere in the neighbor of $14,000 will be turned over to Heads Up Ranch.
Zonta’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament
The greens are being carefully manicured at Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Sand Canyon for the 2nd annual golf tournament on May 21st. The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley has a diverse range of fun planned for the event where all proceeds will benefit various community projects in the Valley including the Healthy Kids Club and Healthy Woman’s Day.
The 4th Annual Tippy Toes Tea Fundraiser
The Tippy Toes Tea fundraiser is a much anticipated springtime social event for ladies and little princesses. Guests traditionally arrive in their finest garden party attire while being greeted by ballerinas, fairies and gracious hostesses. This Victorian high tea is set among the lush gardens of a beautiful fairy-tale Placerita Canyon home. Guests will delight in scrumptious treats, pink lemonade and tea, while ballerinas and storybook characters perform all around them.
Take the No Pollute Commute
Thursday, May 17th is Bike to Work Day so strap on your tennis shoes, hop on your bike and try the no pollute commute. The City of Santa Clarita is hosting the 4th Annual Bike to Work Day Challenge, a friendly competition among local businesses to see who can get the most employees to bike to work.
