The Country Antique Fair Mall will host their annual spring sale Friday, May 7 thru Sunday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “The Fair,” centrally located in Santa Clarita has become one of the city’s oldest businesses, having opened its doors in 1979. In fact, turning 31 this year, they will celebrate their anniversary with another sale in November.

Oh, my goodness! A group of people are working to organize a Community Arts Center. How did this happen? The vision of creating a Community Arts Center came into focus through many meetings with artists, community leaders, and educators in a “Think Tank” environment with the question, “How can we effectively introduce the visual arts into Santa Clarita Valley?” It was decided through families, and to provide a place where families can take their children, or individuals can go to explore their creative potential.

Figure Drawing Demo at SCAA
The March 15, 2010 meeting of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) will feature contemporary realist and portrait artist, Aaron Westerberg. He will be showing his figurative drawing and painting techniques at 7 p.m.
Westerberg was born in San Diego and raised in the rural, mountainous Ramona, one of San Diego County’s oldest communities. As a child he was inspired by the area’s picturesque surroundings, which included intriguing boulder formations.

What exactly is a Debutante? This was a question often asked of the 2010 Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Silver Rose Debutantes. Traditionally, being a debutante means that a young lady has come of age to be married. She is presented to society in a ball that would be filled with eligible young bachelors she could possible marry. In the United States, debutante balls are infamous in the south, where “southern belles,” members of upper class society, are presented in grand elegant white dresses and satin gloves.
