Acupuncture Treats Menopause
As women age, they expect to deal with a range of minor and serious health concerns, but menopause brings on many emotional and physical changes that can be annoying to unbearable. The fluctuation of hormones varies wildly during peri-menopause, and post-menopause, low levels of estrogen and progesterone create problems. Those issues include hot flashes, waning libido, weight gain, sleep disturbances, mental fog or lack of concentration, depression and anxiety.

Have you ever felt that you were stuck with pain, feeling stressed-out or overwhelmed, having low energy levels, or just not living life at the level that you desire? Have you been to healers, therapists, seminars etc, but just not seen your health and life take the shape you really want?
When The Physical Therapist Becomes The Patient
I have been participating in sports since I was a kid. They have always been a huge part of my life, especially basketball and running. A few years ago, I started having a lot of pain in my left hip which was accompanied by stiffness and a gradual loss of my range of motion (decreased flexibility). I went to an orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation and after an exam and x-rays; he told me the problem was osteoarthritis.
Achieve True Health
Everyday we are surrounded by information pertaining to health. We hear about health on the radio, in commercials and even on the Internet. But, unfortunately most people do not have a real understanding of what it means to be healthy. If you look in a medical dictionary it says that health means that “an organism functions optimally without disease or abnormality.” Most understand the absence of disease as being a part of health, but what about functioning at our optimum.

Couples Therapy with Just One Partner?
This is the month of love. We give our special someone a little reminder that we love them. Unfortunately, we can sometimes forget to remind them during the rest of the year. We fall back into our old habits and forget to take care of our love partnership. We’ve all been there. Our spouse or significant other can even get annoying sometimes, which makes it difficult to express love.
Diabetes and Gum Disease What’s the Connection?
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is one of the leading causes of tooth loss among adults and is also frequently linked to the control of diabetes. Gum disease is an infection in the gum tissues and bone that keep your teeth in place and has also been linked to heart disease and strokes.
When is it Time to Replace those Old Dental Amalgam Fillings? What are Your Options?
To begin, let’s first talk about Amalgam fillings. Sometimes referred to as “silver or metal colored fillings,” an Amalgam filling is a stable alloy made by combining elemental mercury, silver, tin, copper and possibly other metallic elements. Constant pressure from chewing, grinding or clenching can cause dental fillings, or restorations, to wear away, chip or crack. You may not be able to tell that your filling is wearing down; however it is important to understand if the seal between the tooth enamel and the restoration breaks down, food particles and decay-causing bacteria can work their way under the restoration.
Are Braces Safe?
The field of orthodontics has gone through great technological advancements in the last century. The braces used today are much smaller, stronger, and safer than what they used to be decades ago.
I am often asked if braces are safe for the teeth. The answer is yes. If placed properly by a well-trained orthodontist they are absolutely safe and do not cause damage to the teeth.

What Causes Astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a vision condition that causes blurred vision due either to the irregular shape of the cornea, the clear front cover of the eye, or sometimes the curvature of the lens inside the eye. An irregular shaped cornea or lens prevents light from focusing properly on the retina, the light sensitive surface at the back of the eye. As a result, vision becomes blurred at any distance.
Infant and Toddler Vision Checklist
As an eye care practitioner, it is my job to know what to look for in infant and toddler visual development. As a proud new parent, I thought it would be a good editorial to list the expected visual performances of infants and toddlers for parents.

Addictions
Addictions can come in many forms and are often intertwined. For example eating disorders have shown many similarities between addictive conditions such as alcoholism, smoking, gambling, sex and drug addiction. Though some people can be predisposed to addictive behaviors, the behavior typically originates as a coping mechanism from boredom, stress, anxiety or severe trauma – a temporary escape into a euphoric state of mind where life seemingly becomes more manageable.
Relief for Heel Pain Sufferers
Heel/Arch pain is one of the most common foot ailments affecting millions of people on a daily basis. Unfortunately, this affliction is left untreated by a majority of the population, figuring that it will go away, or accepting that the pain is typical with excessive standing or walking. Eventually, this ailment becomes chronic in nature, often manifesting with First Step pain when getting out of bed or after a period of rest, usually dissipating after a few minutes of walking, then eventually returning later in the day.

The Future of Back Pain Sufferers is Looking Better!
In the past, a patient suffering from disc problems usually was given pain medications, instructed to refrain from physical activities, referred for physical therapy, and when they weren’t progressing they were sent for spinal surgery. Conservative chiropractic care proved very helpful in many cases, yet there have been some cases when surgery seemed to be the only other option, until now.
