Gold Star Family Tree Celebration
It was an evening of remembering as community members gathered to honor soldiers who have sacrificed for our country and our freedoms. The Santa Clarita City Council hosted an open house reception on Wednesday, December 12, to pay tribute to the Santa Clarita Gold Star families and soldiers who are commemorated on a Christmas tree in the lobby of City Hall.
A Bunco Success!
It was an afternoon of fun as guests gathered to show their support for the 2nd Annual Bunco for Hope Fundraiser on Sunday, October 21 at The Oaks Grille at the Tournament Players Club in Valencia.
Beyond Harmony Beauty Rewards Program
On November 16, Beyond Harmony Med Spa held an event to launch their new Restylane, Perlane and Dysport Rewards programs which began in November. It will allow their clients to accumulate rewards with each purchase through December of 2013.
Region 1441 Gives Back
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, AYSO Region 1441 in Castaic hosted “Region 1441 Gives Back.” Players showed their support by wearing pink socks while coaches, referees, parents and families joined in the “pink” spirit during their October 13 games.
Hometown Olympians Attend Rubber Ducky Festival
Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers’ 10th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival made a big splash in Bridgeport Park on October 27, when joined by hometown Olympic athletes returning from the 2012 London Games.
Sipping and Strolling Down Town Center Drive SIGSCV’s 5th Annual Wine Affair
It was yet another gorgeous day as guests Sip, Strolled and Savored the Sounds at the Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley’s 5th Annual The Wine Affair on Sunday, October 21. Guests spent an afternoon strolling down Town Center Drive and the Patios, enjoying wine, food and live entertainment, all while supporting a worthy cause.

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) held the 23rd annual Art Classic on October 20, at Hart Park. A free public viewing was on October 21.
“We had a terrific 23rd celebration of art, with good wine, gourmet food and fellowship,” said Olga Kaczmar, SCAA silent auction chairperson. “We had over 65 items of paintings, jewelry, and baskets of good stuff, in the silent auction.
SCV Pours Into Sandy!
Hurricane Sandy may have passed, but victims on the East Coast are continuing to pick up the pieces. In an effort to help the American Red Cross in their relief efforts, local blogger and founder of EveWine101.com, Eve Bushman partnered with Al Robles and Terri Rivera, the owners of Cheers at All Corked Up, and Shelly Schutz, one of the owners and managing partner of All Corked Up Wine Storage, for the Pour Into Sandy wine-tasting fundraiser on Wednesday, November 14.
The 10th Annual Festival of Trees
Last month, Westfiled Valencia started the holiday season when they decked the halls and got the community in the holiday spirit! Kicking off the season and celebrating the Festival of Trees, taking place from November 9 through November 21 at the Westfield Valencia Town Center between The Patios and Sears the 13-day event was great community event and a wonderful opportunity to support the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley.
Assistance League® “Sunset in the Vineyard”
A sunny autumn afternoon was the setting for the fifth annual Sunset in the Vineyard benefiting the programs of Assistance League Santa Clarita. Once again, Chris and Jeannie Carpenter and Tim Carpenter opened their homes to host the event focusing on the local vintners, wine growers, brewers and artisans of Santa Clarita.
LARC Ranch’s Foot-Stompin’ Fundraiser Draws Nearly 600
About 575 people donned their western duds and converged on LARC Ranch in Bouquet Canyon for its October 14 fundraiser, a Country Western Carnival featuring live music by The Lucky Stars and old-fashioned carnival games.
Light the Night
On Saturday, October 13, the 2012 Light the Night Walk – Santa Clarita took place with over 125 participants walking for awareness. Each fundraising Champion carries an illuminated red balloon, survivors carried white balloons, and some carried gold balloons in remembrance of a loved one lost to blood cancer.
The 12th Annual Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair Helps 158 Shelter Pets Find Homes
It was all about the animals. Large, small, young, old, fluffy and smooth, hundreds of dogs and cats arrived from six Los Angeles County Animal Shelters with one hope: to find their forever homes at the Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair at Newhall’s Hart Park on Sunday, October 14.
Celebrating with Our Seniors
The Soroptimist ladies of SIGSCV visited the Senior Center this past Halloween, just as they do every year, dressed up for Halloween. The Club brings donated gifts and raffles them off from the tickets they hand out and also gives prizes for best costumes. Everyone had so much fun receiving gifts and the seniors loved the Soroptimist ladies costumes as well.
Bright Beginnings at Child & Family Center
Child & Family Center held a dedication ceremony for its Bright Beginnings Therapeutic Preschool on Wednesday, November 14. The ceremony was the culmination of three years of planning and development for the unique program.
“Bright Beginnings reflects our commitment to prevention and early intervention in the life of a child and our belief that the integration of education and mental health services is extremely important to those children with mental health issues and are at risk of school failure.
Promoting Peace Through Music
It was a beautiful evening as guests arrived at the Valencia United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 21 for the Daniel Pearl World Music Days concert, featuring talented young musicians in the SCV. In addition to performances from E.S.C.A.P.E. Theatre, the Canyon High School Madrigals, and other local musicians, Kelsey Taylor welcomed nationally renowned young pianist Rio Mangini.
And the Winner Is…SCV Sheriff’s Foundation Raffle
We are pleased to support the SCV Sheriff’s Foundation with all of their endeavors to further make our community safer. The foundation has been a big aid in the Santa Clarita Valley for many years.
