Assistance League annually conducts a National Conference where over 120 chapter and guild members from around the country gather for learning opportunities as well as networking. The 2009 Leadership Conference was held October 14 to 18 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.

Hundreds of guests enjoyed Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild’s 25th Annual Fall Fashion Show, “Sunday at the Moulin Rouge” on November 15 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel.
Another Beautiful Sunset
Assistance League held their annual “Sunset in the Vineyard” fundraiser Sunday, November 8 at the picturesque home and Compa Vineyard of Jeannie, Chris and Tim Carpenter. Over 300 guests enjoyed an afternoon of wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and a scrumptious cheese and fruit display donated by Bristol Farms. The amazing variety of wines were all from Santa Clarita vintners.

The SCV Stars Prepare for FAME
Santa Clarita STARS Dance Team kicked off the season at the Movie Premiere of FAME. “Our dancers were so inspired by the movie – it emphasized that teamwork and perseverance pays off”, said Holly Diaz, director of the team.”
Fun in the Sun at the Castaic Days Outdoor Festival
It was a perfect weekend for the much-anticipated Castaic Days Outdoor Festival that took place on October 9 and 10 at the Castaic Lake Recreational Center.
Success at the Rubber Ducky Regatta
It was a beautiful afternoon as the rubber ducks took to the lake and raced their way to the finish line at the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc.’s 7th Annual Rubber Ducky Regatta on October 10 at Castaic Lake. More than $60,000 was raised for the event that went directly toward patient care for the underinsured and uninsured at SDFHC’s three health centers, Canyon Country, Newhall and Val Verde.
Bras For A Cause
On Sunday, October 4, more than 40 bras graced the tables in a room at the Oaks Grille. But this was not a typical display of lingerie; decorated in a variety of world themes, the vibrantly decorated women’s undergarments were a part of the Sixth Annual Bras For A Cause event, hosted by Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley.
Stomping Out Violence
Soroptimist International of GSCV helped to stomp out violence when they held their first annual High-Heel-athon on May 31. There were 125 people completed the 150-yard walk down Walnut Street.
The Wine Affair
Who says philanthropy isn’t fun!
For supporters of The Wine Affair, a community event hosted by the Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley (SIGSCV), wine, food, and entertainment made for one enjoyable day that raised funds to support the Sheila R. Veloz Imaging Center for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Women of Honor: Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook
On Saturday, September 19, the Betty Ferguson Foundation hosted their Woman of Honor Dinner at the beautiful Tournament Players Club in Valencia. The committee honored Chancellor of the College of the Canyons, Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook, for her contributions to the community.
A Bunco Success!
It was an evening of dice rolling fun as 20 games of Bunco were played at the Salt Creek Grille on Monday, October 19.
