The Veterans Administration has a special benefit intended to help veterans or their surviving spouses meet the high cost of health care.  The program is referred to as the “Aid and Attendance Program” or “A&A.”  If you qualify medically and financially, the Veterans Administration will provide a monthly check to help cover monthly expenses.

More than 5 million people in the United States are living with Alzheimer’s disease, a 10 percent increase from five years ago, according to a new report from the Alzheimer’s Association.  This number includes 4.9 million people over the age of 65 and between 200,000 and 500,000 people under age 65 with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Here are six simple things you can do today to organize your office:

Not everyone needs a Living Trust.  If, for example, you have little or no property in your name alone, and no minor children, you probably don’t need a living trust.  A simple will may suffice.  By “property”, we don’t mean only real estate, but also personal property, such as cars, furniture, jewelry and other “stuff.”  If however, you do have more than nominal assets, some estate planning may be in order.

As adults, we assume that negative feelings, unhappy events, or unpleasant relationships will destroy a child’s self-esteem.  We think of self-esteem as a permanent attribute — like eye color.  In reality self-esteem is a lifelong journey that is inextricably connected to our relationships across the life span and to our personal accomplishments.
