The public is invited to participate in a golf and barbecue dinner event on September 30, which will benefit the Radiology Department at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in memory of a former employee.

Unitarian Universalists Of SCV Donate To Habitat for Humanity
The Unitarian Universalists (UUs) of SCV have chosen SFV/SCV Habitat for Humanity as the recipient of the August 19th special collection. The UUs have invited Joyce Grair, Community Outreach Director, to speak on that day. This organization prides itself on being a, “hand up,” rather than a “hand out.” Richard Galway of the organization reports that currently the focus is on a housing development in Pacoima, where they are poised to start the second phase.

The 24th Annual National Night Out, a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Station and the City of Santa Clarita, will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff station.

The City of Santa Clarita continues to work on your behalf to make your travels easier. Currently, they are working on Phase Two of the 11 phases for these improvements. The anticipated completion of this phase is fall 2007.

Poker Tournament Charity Event To Fund Needs Of Cancer Patients
This month 150 poker enthusiasts will gather at the City of Santa Clarita’s Activities Center to compete in the card-playing sport gone wild around the world, Texas Hold ‘Em. For $125 per person, entrants will not only be engaged in a night of poker, food and drink, but their fee will benefit young people battling cancer who are in need of financial assistance.

The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is gearing up for this year’s Classic Wine Benefit Auction to be held on Saturday, October 6 at Le Chêne French Cuisine located at 122625 Sierra Highway from 11 am to 4 pm. This year will be the 16th annual of this highly successful event that supports The Center’s Home-Delivered Meals program and others to serve local seniors in need. Tickets are $60 each. The theme for this year’s event is “A Toast to Independence.”
