The Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley was successful in competing for an $8,500 grant that will enable the Center to begin a much-needed Teen Outreach Program aimed at helping teens dealing with domestic violence. The incidence of domestic violence is a growing concern and one of the fastest growing victim groups are teenagers.

Valencia Softball Shines
The City of Santa Clarita is pleased to honor the 2007 Valencia Softball Division I CIF- Southern Section Champions, who defeated Hart High School with a score of 1 to 0 in the championship game in Irvine.
The City has made banners in recognition of the girls of the softball team.
Kids Helping Kids
The girls in Girl Scout Troop 172 led by Troop leader, Debbilyn Day, are learning about doing good deeds as they make memory books for Los Angeles county foster children. The girl scouts are currently working on their, “Caring for Others,” patches and when they heard of the plight of those children less fortunate than they, they voted unanimously to do their part in making other children’s lives a bit brighter.

Summertime in Santa Clarita means it’s time for the City’s free Concerts in the Park series. Every Saturday night from July 7 through August 25, the City hosts a free summer concert at Central Park, beginning at 7 p.m. and this year featuring tribute bands.
4th of July Santa Clarita Style
The City of Santa Clarita, along with other community organizations, has a host of events planned to help residents celebrate the birth of the nation. The 2007, 4th of July activities include: the Independence Day 5k run, the Annual 4th of July Parade, and a fireworks extravaganza at the Westfield Valencia Town Center, courtesy of the City of Santa Clarita.
