Mixers hosts a Sunday Brunch!  Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  We serve up a unique blend of breakfast favorites.  Now, the idea of a breakfast menu only one day a week can make some people a bit skeptical, but I am here to say, if I knew our brunch was going to turn out so phenomenal, I might have considered opening a breakfast joint instead.  Call it “Scramblers” instead of “Mixers”!

For someone who loves food as much as I do, the perfect vacation includes a walk through the streets of Palermo, Sicily.  This August I was lucky enough to spend some time at the famous Markets of Palermo—La Vucciria, Ballaro’, Capo and Borgo Vecchio. I started my trip off at La Vucciria, an open-air market that, being true to its name (Confusion in Sicilian), is riddled with the commotion of buyers and sellers making exchanges in loud, boisterous voices.

One day I just started reminiscing about the simpler times in my life.  You know back in our twenties and thirties.  It was nice thinking about the girls, and girlfriends I dated back then.  That was such an easy going time, going on dates that the girl had pretty much one criteria for dating.

On October 15, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. a great event will be held at Hart Hall located at 24151 Newhall Avenue in Santa Clarita.  The event is the annual Art Classic Exhibit of over 100 pieces of original visual art created by members of the Santa Clarita Artist’s Association.

You take your spouse, date, family or friends out to dinner, order your food, and you get… television dinners?  Certainly this is not what you expect from a restaurant, but did you know that most major restaurant chains use central processing kitchens to pre-make many menu items, freeze them in plastic bags, and ship it out to all their restaurants?  This is how they control food cost, labor expense, and try to make sure of consistent taste in each restaurant.  When you order, they thaw the pre-cooked food in microwaves or water, cut the bags open and put them on the grill or in a pan for a quick heat up to make it seem like it was made fresh.

My hometown, Seattle, is a green haven where Seasonal Affective Disorder is a formidable plague and plaid flannel is layered under Northface fleece as a necessary precaution against frigid rain.  It’s generally regarded as a pale caffeine addict’s paradise. There are no gang-dominated neighborhoods, but we do have Microsoft Country, which is equally dangerous because of the large concentration of overworked and slightly depressed software geniuses lurking about.
Unsurprisingly, my family’s impending move to Southern California aroused an inkling of trepidation.

Hello Comedy Fans!  We have another terrific month of comedy in August; highlighted by Dave Coulier, who starred as “Uncle Joey,” on the hit show Full House.  Some people may not know this, but Dave Coulier was one of the top comedians in the country when he was cast on this very popular show and became a household friend.
