Dr. Fellows, a native of Illinois, studied in both the Midwest and Southern California. He graduated magna cum laude with a psychobiology major from the University of Southern California. He then earned his medical degree from the prestigious Northwestern University in Chicago.

By the end of the year, some 1.2 million people nationwide will be diagnosed with the most common types of skin cancer, most of these patients from the pre-sunscreen generation.

The City of Santa Clarita’s Transit Division will hold two workshops for community seniors on the new Senior TAP Card (Transit Access Pass) Program application process. The first workshop took place in June and the second workshop will be held on July 8 at the SCV Senior Center in Activity Room 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for local seniors 60 years of age and older.

It seems everyone is wearing an appliance that protects the teeth.  The kids are wearing sports guards, teens are wearing retainers and almost all adults should be wearing Night Guards.  I can’t tell you what a great investment a Night Guard is.  I get patients in every week with fractured teeth, chips on their front teeth and sore muscles and TMJ from clenching and grinding.  The treatment or prevention for all these issues is a Night Guard worn each night as you sleep.  But, they don’t help sitting in your nightstand, you actually have to wear them. 

There are many people that suffer from back pains in the modern world. These back pains are usually from sitting at a desk for an extended time. And ways to prevent back pains, stretching and exercise is greatly recommended.  There are a few reasons people get these excruciating back pains.

With summer just around the corner, many parents are attempting to put together a healthier diet for their children. We all know that three meals a day will not keep growing kids nutritionally satisfied all day. Kids always ask their parents for a snack. It is almost a part of their daily routine.

In the past, dental erosion was considered a problem for older adults who complained of hypersensitivity after a lifetime of dietary and environmental insults to their teeth.  Today, erosion is becoming a topic of discussion among all age groups.  No one wants to believe that a five-year-old can suffer from erosion, but dentists are seeing eroded enamel in a wide range of patients, including children.

The recent swine flu outbreak has had people everywhere bordering on hysteria. The medical advice given is to wear facemasks and take the anti-viral drug called Tamiflu. But wearing a facemask isn’t the most effective defense and Tamiflu can have many serious side effects.

Most mattresses these days are made using innersprings with various foams and fibers layered on top. The innersprings themselves are durable, of course, as they are made of steel.  However, the foams and fibers are vulnerable to fast deterioration.

A growing number of women are choosing acupuncture to use throughout their pregnancy and as an optional treatment for an overdue or difficult labor.

We fought for our independence; yet continue to find ourselves enmeshed in dependency.  Most people faced separation from their families and became individuals.  Dependency may feel easier at the moment, but is it an asset or hindrance to our self-esteem? Being dependent allows us to rely on others to provide for our needs, and, supposedly, makes us feel happy, complete and worthwhile.  Does it actually help us to feel better about ourselves or less of ourselves?

Almost every patient at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is seen in the Imaging Services department at least once during their stay, and many patients are seen multiple times.
Ensuring patients receive the highest level of patient imaging services is a priority for Connie Hage, director of Imaging and Cardiology Services, and the recent completion of the radiographic fluoroscopy room is one more milestone toward that goal.

Although rest and relaxation are the goals for most vacations, they usually involve a lot of walking and a lot of walking usually involves sore feet.
